This contractor is smooth. He knows all the angles and will use them to screw you over. He runs remolding business under different names. Has been taken off Service Magic as a competent contractor.
He did a $100,000.00 addition which included gutting an old bathroom and remodeling it from the studs. Fine Design installed at a premium
priced bathroom that had to be gutted and redone because of poor workmanship. It
looked like a bad DIY job that a professional has to come and salvage.The
tub wasn't level and not seated properly. It would move when you would
get in and out of the tub. Tiles on wall looked like a bad jig- saw
puzzle. The tiles were wavy, installed in a way that you could cut your
hand if you tried to support yourself on the wall. Fine Design only
insulated half a wall.
He had to rip up a new wood floor because he did not properly prepare the subfloor. He tried 5 times to lay a floating floor over a new cement poor. He did not know how to use a self leveler compound. He added 150lbs. of concrete which had to be jack hammered up. He installed a sliding door so bad snoe would blow into the house. He vented the bathroom into the attic not following code regulations. He left debris all over the property. He ruined the grass in the yard by plowing fill over old lawn. He used raw would as trim around windows. Looked like hell.
When we told him we would not give him another dime until all these items were fixed he threatened to have his subcontractors sue us for nonpayment. You see even though we paid him on time. He never paid all his subcontractors. He blackmailed us into signing a release agreement in order not to have a lien put on our house.
