First National Bank Omaha 32.32% Interest Hike Omaha Nebraska

We received an offer from First National Bank Omaha in March 2007 for a 1.99% interest rate for the life of our balance transfers. We have really good credit so the low rate was not surprising. In December of 2007 I paid our bills through online banking, but our bank messed up and the payment was 7 days late as a result. Since I remembered paying it, the only reason I even knew it was late was the letter I received in the mail that our account was being closed and the default interest rate would now apply. Keep in mind this was the first and only time we were late.

You can imagine my horror when I saw the default interest rate was 32.32%. I immedietly transferred that balance to a different card. I then called to pay off whatever amount was remaining.

Today I got another bill from First National Bank Omaha for $97.38. Even though I had paid the balance off before the close of the billing cycle, they still charged me the interest PER DAY for the balance until it was transferred.
I called to see what could be done but was told by the woman I was talking to that while it was unfortunate and really unfair, she just had to do her job and it was a paycheck.

I would recommend that anyone using First National Bank Omaha immedietly transfer their accounts to a different card to avoid a similar interest hike. Just so you know, our credit is still really good. We were able to get on a 5% interest rate card the day we received this letter, so it's not like we have bad credit.
