I paid this collection agency $330 a few months ago. Now I get another one calling up saying I owe Sprint $355. Why? They don't know. I called Sprint Customer Service. They said what happened is, I paid the $330 to First Revenue Assurance, and First Revenue Assurance sent Sprint a bad check which bounced. Because of that they are re-charging ME the money and adding a late fee.

So, in essence I will be paying twice, plus a late fee, just so they don't ruin my credit rating. Sprint told me I should call First Revenue Assurance and find out what is up with them. First, that is not my responsibility. But, it is my credit rating I am hoping to protect, so I called them. Guess what? They hang up on me every single time.

This company is completely disreputable and I have no idea why Sprint continues to do business with them. Then again, in my experience, Sprint is not all that reputable either.

Some ifs

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, March 27, 2008

IF this agency was hired by Sprint to collect and IF you have a documented receipt or cancelled check/other bank records - YOU ARE COVERED. The agency acted as a lawful agent of Sprint.

If you have a document that shows you paid make 2 copies of it, then

Send a certified, return receipt requested letter to BOTH the collection agency and Sprint and include a copy of your document that proves you paid the collection agency.

Here's some salient points to make in your letter.

1. You paid the collection agency, a lawfull agent of Sprint the amount of the debt (include copy of cancelled check or whatever document you have that proves you paid.)

2. The problem is between Sprint and their hired agent, the collection agency.

3. You expect this matter to be CORRECTLY ANNOTATED on all three CRA credit reports that the debt is now "paid as agreed."

4. You request written confirmation that this debt is satisfied by your paying the lawful agent of Sprint.

5. You will seek legal counsel if written confirmation, that the debt is satisfied, is not received by you in 15 days to determine what legal remedies are available to you under the FCRA, FDCPA and State statutes.

Now, I'm assuming that this collector was contracted by Sprint to collect the debt. Hopefully, you have some hard copy mailings from the debt collector to substantiate that. Also, all further communications need to be in writting with BOTH of them.

I would also suggest you consult with a competent attorney in your area if you do not receive written confirmation that the debt is absolved.

Good luck.

That should do it.
