I have read many other ripoff reports in this site from Fitness 19 from this site and mine has the same structure and tone.

I believe I started at Fitness 19 on March 2012. They announced to start only at $14 month but once you were ready to sign it turned out that that only for like 3-4 seprate days a week, and it was $19 for all days- sure, fine, whatever.

I barely went for like 2 months and then moved out for about a year. During that time I was noticing the ongoing charges on my credit card, I called about 3 times during that period to cancel, but turns out that they "couldn't" take cancellations over the phone or email. It had to be in writing. How convenient I thought to myself, while the letter is sent and as long as it takes to process them, they will keep on billing you for months. So I blocked the charges from my debit card. I walk in finally after a year of giving away my money, and they told me that they couldn't close my account because since I had blocked charges with my debit card that I owed them from that month. I thought it was a load of non-sense and kept arguiing with the employee until they told me to speak to the manager today morning. I walk in today and differente employee gives me the same schpeal of "its the rules and you sign for it" and ask to speak with the manager. I left my cell phone number so that he could call me when he got back and he has yet to call, and I don't think he will. To quote another person that a filed a report here:

"This is wrng and I now see that other are experiencing the same problem... Someone really needs to look into the legalities of their practices. It is inconceivable that in 2012, a business cannot take a cencellation notice over the pgone, email, or fax. It's not that they can't, they don't want to; because then they can extend your cancellation date by weeks, allowing them to bill for longer periods of time for each cancellation. You have no control over when they input your letter of cancellation. I cal that fraudalent, at the very least, misleading business practicess and certainly not ehical, if not illegal. Your notice should be the date you notify them. Not based on their billing cycles. Or, at the very least, it should be prorated from the billing date to the end of that month, not continuing to charge you into a new month."

This is not about of the money, I could give them those $19.00 they said I owe them and be over it (if it were that easy accorind to all the reports around here), but this is about self-wortk and not letting business stomp all over you with their shady legalese and practices.
