When I went in FMU to talk about the school and what it had to offer I was told that this was the school for me. I was told that all I had to pay was $25.00 dollars to register and the grants and loans would cover the rest, that was a lie.
I was told that there would be certain classes that I would not have to take like English, Math, and Science because they were a private school and those classes were not needed, that was a lie. I was also told about that because they had the best accreditation, the credits would transfer anywhere, that was a major lie. After realizing that so many of the stories that were told to me were untrue I decided to look into going to other schools and it was then that I found out that basically I had been robbed.
You can't do much at all with a degree from FMU. I was at the school about 3 days ago and saw a lady doing a walk through with some new students and she was telling them the same lie. I just looked at her and shook my head because she is helping the school rob people.
The damages for me are the fact that I have invested so much cash, time, and effort to the school and if I leave now, due to the fact that you can't transfer their credits anywhere as I was told you could, I just might have to stay there to finish up or I'll have to start over somewhere else and that is thousands of dollars down the drain. That is so unfair because I am a mother of 5 and I wanted a better education to support my children in the fashion that I saw suitable but that money was wasted. Had I had been told the truth from the start, I never would have enrolled in that school and paid that type of money for an education that will take me nowhere. I feel as though I have been robbed.

I know that this is true because I also registered for FMU at the exact location as you. This is how my story goes...I registered but never attended. I chose community college instead because FMU was to expensive for a school that was accredited by ASICS(sp).
I went online and checked them out and found a lot of stories simiar to yours. I knew that the people at that school were shady they told me the exact same lies they told you so I decided not to go I asked sallie mae to cancel my loan and I changed my financial aid to fccj. Ok here is the problem...last sememster(Fall) while at FCCJ I was told I had to pay back my financial aid for the previous semester(spring) they said that I was overpaid. They accused me of collecting financial aid from FMU and them.
Problem is I never attended FMU. They screwed me and some other students up. It was not easy getting FMU to fix this. At first they denied screwing up then when I brought them papers showing how someone from that school (FMU) had reported receiving a pell grant from me. They acted like they didnt know what was going on.
They promised to fix it but they didnt then they made up a lie saying they didnt know how to fix it. It was terrible this whole thing took three months to straighten out. The only thing FMU had to do was call up the Department of Education and tell them that they had made a mistake. Took them three months to do so. FCCJ would not allow me to register for classes or anything despite me bringing proof that I had never attended FMU all this trouble on the count of FMU screwing up.
The sad part is I am not the only person who this has happened to. I dont understand how they could make this mistake more than once and they keep getting away with it. I'm glad I didnt attend this school. What a scam. Anyone considering going here dont go. You are better off going to a community college than going here.
