As a previous college student attending both online and a brick & mortar institutions I have to say that I have finally decided that if you cannot find a college or university in your own home state that you know is reputable don't bother trying to complete or get a degree online! 

In my fifties, survived the divorce, and cancer thought I'd finally settle down and complete my Associate's Degree from the comfort of my home. I decided on a not - for - profit school. I researched, and came up with what I thought was a good choice of Florida Tech. They had a great online program, with no hidden undergraduate affliate schools - my diploma whould come from FL Tech. I applied and was promptly accepted. I started receiving phone calles about once a week regarding my enrollment and everything I needed to do in order to start classes right away on Aug 25, 2014. I filled out document after document, sent email, after email, jumped through all their hoops.

Everything seemed to be going well, until I tried to contact their Financial Aid Dept. to discuss how much everything was actually going to cost, and what financial aid was actually available to me. That's when I dound out they had dropped the ball (or so they said) big time. The long of the short is: as of Aug 14, 2014 I was placed into 3 classes without transcript reviews because they said they had not received all of my transcripts even though they had been requested on July 2, 2014, and again on July 14, 2014. FL Tech, expected me to start classes on Aug 25, 2014 blindly without knowing anything about how much the school was going to cost me. When I withdrew from classes they changed their tone completely and made me pay for return shipping of my books! (I will be sending return receipt!) Watch out for them - they seem to be money grabbers!
