Sue White, owner/proprietor of Footnotes Studio of Dance has consistently mismanaged her students accounts. She has continued to charge for classes not taken or dropped. She has cancelled national competition trips less than a week before the competition because of disagreements with parents arranging transportation of students.

Miss White, informed my own daughter 6 days before a scheduled competition day that her bill was past due and if she did not pay it in full that day then she could not compete. My daughter was excited to perform her first solo dance that she had worked for all year. A personal confrontation with Miss White forced her to go into our account and correct the mistakes she had made which made the bill we "supposedly" owed her less than half of what her books stated. Her excuse was that she was that she "worked another job and was too tired at the end of the day to do her accounts." !! Once we got home we went over the copy of her billing again and found further discrepencies which ended up with her owing us money!

As a result my daughter dropped out of dance after 4 years and we will never get to see her solo or her dance again, for that matter. She is graduating HS and heading to college. The emotional toll this has taken on my daughter as well as us (her parents) cannot be described. This was a big year and a big deal for my daughter this year and now she is completely crushed and defeated.

This woman is inept and incapable of running a business. She constantly adds additional charges to her set tuition schedule and is likely doing the same thing to other parents' bills that she has done to ours. She should NOT be in business and I would strongly advise finding a different dance studio if you want your child to take dance lessons.

You are Responsible for YOUR Bills

AUTHOR: Dancelover - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Let's face reality in this world, everyone likes to pass the buck. We need to take responsiblity for our own bills. If you have a child attending dance classes, then you obviously know you must pay for those classes, along with the costumes for recitals, fees to compete, and competition fees if your child participates. I have a child that has been dancing for thirteen + years (not all of them at Footnotes, but quite a few). I have yet to see a studio that refunds for costumes that are ordered to fit your child, refund for fees that are due at the beginning of a month if you decide to quit dance during the month, or refund you because you do not, or cannot compete for any reason. These fees are non-refundable. And yes, this is all stated upfront in advance.

So let's take responsiblity for our bills instead of passing them on to a studio because your child does not want to dance anymore for whatever reason, and you may not want to pay the fees now because of this.

The studio has signs in the lobby, in the parent waiting area, written in the contracts, etc, etc, etc. that there are no refunds or exchanges!!!! What is there that can't be understood about this policy. It also states that all fees are due at the beginning of the month!!!!

Ms. White has been more than understanding in these economic times as far as letting people exetend their payments beyond the first of the month, but yes pay up! She has bills to pay too. This isn't a charity event!

Maybe someone wants to get out of paying what is due the studio even though their child didn't finish out the dance season or didn't participate in the recital, or finish the competion season? Either way sometimes the merchandise and service provide is NONREFUNDABLE.

Managing accounts is a parent's responsibility

AUTHOR: Laura - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 22, 2009

My daughter has been dancing at Footnotes Studio of Dance for 5 years. Have I had mistakes in my account? Absolutely; but Sue White's ability as a business woman is not the reason why we've stayed at the studio. We are there because Sue provides an enviroment that builds our child's self-esteem and confidence, love for the art of dance, and an understanding that competition is fun.

The studio policy clearly states that all accounts need to be paid in full before children can dance in recital or competition. For the past 3 years, the studio has provided on-line access to our accounts. The on-line tool very clearly shows every debit and credit on our account with an explanation of each line item. When brought to Sue's attention, every discrepancy in my account has been corrected without argument.

As responsible adults, most of us proactively monitor and reconcile are bank accounts and other monthly bills. An account with a dance studio is not any different.
