I've got bad credit, and the dealership said they had to "go with the cheapest model" to get me approved by the lender. When it was all said and done, I ended up with a 17% rate, and they added approximately $7000 to the price of the car.

They made it sound like I would not be able to buy a car unless I took this deal, which might be true. But you would think that Ford would have an obligation to the poor in the community to help them better themselves.

There is no way I can budget in payments to pay off other people I owe, and I need a new car to be a dependable person to get to work, otherwise I would not even borrow the money.

I am really tempted to just drive this thing back today, and hand them the keys.

Misconceptions.

""Obligation as a business to the community.
I think that car dealerships have an obligation to the community to help the poor, not prey on them. That's why God makes people strong, not to hurt others, but to help others. I can afford to pay for a new car. ""

It doesn't appear that you can. Many folks cannot afford a new car. Many folks cannot afford a lot of the pricey stuff on the market.

""But when you add 3K to a deal, you add at least $100 a month to the monthly payment, not including the insurance. So if I was out of work last year and owe bad debt of 3K, how am I going to pay back people I owe money to if you dump 6K on the price tag?""

You have the option to walk away-simply say NO and get up and leave. Seems to me you were at a sleazy dealership. It's possible that they padded the price of the vehicle and then offset that by claiming you were making a larger down payment than what you were actually doing. Some dealerships will do this (although it's illegal- for them and YOU.) Example: you have $1000 for a downpayment. They jack the price 3 grand and on the loan application they declare that your downpayment is $4000.

""Used cars are not good investments, that's why people get rid of them. People that trade them in dog them the last few weeks. And usually in the 3rd or 4th year something not covered by a warranty can crush you.""

NOT always true. I take very good care of my trucks. The people who have purchased the trucks I have traded in bought well maintained used vehicles.

""All you folks out there buying 30K cars are killing the rest of us?""

HUH???

""So perhaps I am looking at their 'obligation to the community' in the wrong light, they are actually helping me.""

I don't think they're helping you at all. Giving you an auto loan that has you living on the edge paycheck to paycheck is not helping you IMO. And if something unexpected comes up and you can't make the payments, the repo isn't going to help you either.

I think you would be better off with a good solid used car. BUT, you have to do your research and buy from a reputible dealer AND have a mechanic of YOUR choosing check it out before you shell out a dime. The same applies if you purchase from a private party - carfax check and YOUR mechanic checks it out.

""I walked into this with my eyes open. Just don't blame me when all these Asian car makers take away more jobs?""

I blame CONGRESS. Can you say NAFTA 1, NAFTA 2, "most favored nation trade status" and a host of other international treaties our government has signed on?

""Supposedly I'll end up with good credit after this is paid off. I'll never shop for another new car again without my own independent financing source. ""

BINGO!!!! You'll get a better financing arrangement and if you're preapproved for the loan, that is a BIG bargaining chip when you're negotiating the price you're willing to pay for the car!

""I'll tell Ford that they are 'Excellent' on their surveys so no one will loose their job. I just don't know how some people sleep at night.""

I wouldn't. Seems to me you were dealing with a shady dealership. Not all dealers operate that way.

CONTACT THE BANK IMMEDIATELY!!!!!

AUTHOR: Karl - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 15, 2008

There is a CHANCE that some, or even ALL of your legal paperwork that was sent to the Bank by the Dealership was FORGED or ALTERED in some way!!!

Go to the TOYOTA page of this site and read Carol's Rip-off Report on 5-9-2008!! It's entitled- 'LARRY MILLER SHOWS NO SIGN OF RESPECT...COMMITTED FORGERY...'

If they did it to her, they COULD have done it to you!! Look at the CREDIT APPLICATION that the Bank received after you get the copy!! Auto Dealers will sometimes increase your INCOME & TIME ON THE JOB without your knowledge so the loan will go through!! They'll also add WARRATIES without your knowledge!!

They'll also sometimes FORGE your signature on documents that you didn't even know about! If this is so, then the LOAN is NO GOOD!! Because YOU did not REALLY sign it, RIGHT??

CONTACT the Bank and get the copies ASAP!! It COULD be YOUR WAY OUT!!!!

God bless you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also go to the TOYOTA Rip-off Report entitled: RIP OFF REPORT TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION USA MANIPULATION and read the UPDATE on 5-3-2008 entitled- URGENT UPDATE TO ALL AMERICANS!!! YOU MUST READ THIS NOW!!! Look what was said on May 3rd, then look at Carol's Report and that DATE that she submitted it!!!!!!!!

WHAT A COINCIDENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obligation as a business to the community.

AUTHOR: DeclineToState - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 14, 2008

I think that car dealerships have an obligation to the community to help the poor, not prey on them. That's why God makes people strong, not to hurt others, but to help others. I can afford to pay for a new car.

But when you add 3K to a deal, you add at least $100 a month to the monthly payment, not including the insurance. So if I was out of work last year and owe bad debt of 3K, how am I going to pay back people I owe money to if you dump 6K on the price tag?

Used cars are not good investments, that's why people get rid of them. People that trade them in dog them the last few weeks. And usually in the 3rd or 4th year something not covered by a warranty can crush you.

And if you are renting, you have no home equity to borrow against, and you will probably end up with a repo in a bad car repair situation. No thank you. The problem with high car prices is that people pay them. All you folks out there buying 30K cars are killing the rest of us?

I don't want to repair the front end because it wasn't greased for the last 55K miles. Oh, and it doesn't matter if I have a million safe driving miles, my credit history will ensure that the insurance companies can dig their hands in my wallet too for apparently no good reason? I will say this, the dealership put me in a new car, "when others won't" (like I want to go through this process with another dealer). So perhaps I am looking at their "obligation to the community" in the wrong light, they are actually helping me.

I complained about another dealership salesman (CarMax) that wanted to put me in a used car that was in an accident (I checked carfax, and it is difficult getting a police report), and he ran my credit through traditional sources knowing full well it was damaging my credit further, all because he got a bad survey?

I'm not going to pursue this further, I'm sure they are not the only dealership doing this. I walked into this with my eyes open. Just don't blame me when all these Asian car makers take away more jobs?

Supposedly I'll end up with good credit after this is paid off. I'll never shop for another new car again without my own independent financing source. When you do try to trust people, they either jack up the price or put you in a lemon? I'll be like all the other boys and girls out there, shut up and suck it up.

I'll tell Ford that they are "Excellent" on their surveys so no one will loose their job. I just don't know how some people sleep at night.

What should that obligation be???

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 14, 2008

""But you would think that Ford would have an obligation to the poor in the community to help them better themselves. ""

I'm curious as to what obligation you think Ford, or any auto manufacturer, should have towards folks who cannot afford to purchase their products.

Would you extend this "obligation" to manufacturers of other products that many folks cannot afford?

Drive it through their showroom plate glass windows.

You are sufffering from buyers remorse. Just take the truck back pronto. If they scream and brow beat you just tell them to get lost.

Never buy new. A good used one will be less expensive, still have the factory warranty and you won't take as much of a depreciation hit.

I hate care dealerships.
