I purchased a truck & had it ford certified. Not only do I still have 2000 miles left on original warranty but I have 42000 left on the certified bumper to bumper warrantt I purchased.  I LOVED my truck!

My husband wrecked it 4 days after we purchased it! Then i started hearing a loud rattle/ticking/clanging noise coming from BEHIND the motor, after the ins. company (american family) put $18,500 worth in body work & getting a new frame because it cracked the frame. First I believe the truck had enough damage it should have been totaled. We asked the shop (not fords) and American family if they were sure nothing else was damaged. They assured us this was all the damage.

The day we get it back we hear the weird noise. (very lightly) the shop says it's in the ford heads & to go to ford. So ins. says ford must say whats wrong with the motor & that with out a doubt it is because of the wreck. I do. They say nothing is wrong. So I drive it 3 hours to my home town that  trust the shops. The noise is now ALOT louder (something is rattling loose & getting worse as I drive it)

I have now been to 3 ford dealer shops and the only thing they are willing to d is hook it to the computer reader. It says the engine is fine! I keep telling them the sound is not in the engine! They will not listen, they will not look into it any farther because it still drives.

I have been telling them I drive 3 hours every other weekend with my 2yr old to go see family. I don't feel safe with her in a truck that sounds like it is rattling apart. They tell me it's fine, that they all make that noise at high miles.... High miles? less than 60,000 is high? I exspect for a truck to last longer then that for $20,000. So I asked them to show me another that does it. They could not show me even 1!

Ford has told their machanics that weird noises are normal so they have now become parretts & just repeat what they are told to & never look into the noise. I believe whole heartedly the wreck caused the noise/damage but ford wont help me by finding what it is because they want to say any noise is normal.

In the end american family has not fixed my vehicle to the condition it was prior to the accident. They don't care about their customers! They claim the truck was already making this noise & i didn't notice it. It is a loud imbarrassing noise that i noticed in less then a mile after getting it back from shop. I would have noticed it before.

I think everyone with a ford vehicle that makes a weird noise needs to do a class action lawsuit because no matter what the noise is, they say it's just a ford motor! I spoke to a small local shop & he believes it is a cracked flywheel or the torq converter. I told the dealership's shop & they don't care. They refuse to listen!

Accident

- Exactly.  So why is Ford responsible?  Manufacturers warranties cover manufacturer defects.  They don't cover accidents or bad repair work by other mechanics.

Your car was in an accident and repaired.  So while I am not saying that something is not wrong with your truck.  There is nothing you have posted that says Ford should responsible for repairing it.

Who do you plan on filing this "class action" against?

"I think everyone with a ford vehicle that makes a weird noise needs to do a class action lawsuit because no matter what the noise is, they say it's just a ford motor.."

Would that "class action" be against Ford?  Maybe it should be against the insurance company.

Wait, how about the body shop?  Perhaps all of the above?

To have a class action certified, you need a LOT of people experiencing the same problem you are.

No bumper to bumper warranty or any other kind of warranty covers physical damage like from an accident.  You didn't have this trouble before the wreck and you state that a shop suspected a cracked flywheel or the torque convertor.  Sounds like this accident was very serious. Was undercarriage damage done?  This truck needs to go on a lift and be carefully checked.

I hope you can have your insurance company agree to have it re-looked at, possibly at another shop.

If unsuccessful try advising American Family that the truck is NOT satisfactorily repaired and you want it totalled.  Good luck to you.
