I bought a 2014 ford focus on 31Jul14 from Viva Ford in El Paso and on 29Nov14 the clutch went totally inoperative after 7088 miles. It was towed to the Casa Ford Service Dept the same day. I was told that the clutch is a wear item(like Brake pads) and not covered by Ford's warranty. The problem was escalated to the Ford customer Service in Dearborn, Mi and they also said it was not a Warranty item. It took them until 17Dec14 to fix it and my cost was $1625. 

The Ford Warranty giude says that the clutch linings are not covered when due to 'normal wear and tear'. There  is no way that one could consider a clutch going inoperative for normal wear after only 7800 miles, of which at least 5000 miles was freeway driving, without some kind of serious manufacturing defect. Even a cheap clutch would last 20,000 to 40,000 miles. Looking on the internet there appears to be a clutch problem being hidden by Ford. In addition. in looking at the repair invoice they had to replace the cylinder assy, the Flywheel Assy, and the clutch Assy. All of which add up to more than just a simple clutch lining wear item. 

In short, the Ford Warrany for the clutch is absolutly worthless and who knows what else they can claim as being related to a 'wear' item. Having to pay $1625 and wait 3 weeks to get it repaired is a RIPOFF.  Don't buy a Ford.
