RIP OFF!!!

April 2012 I booked Shane & his team to provide photography and DJ services for my wedding and reception for June 28, 2013. I paid Shane the deposit and signed the contract. I stayed in contact with him through the next 10 months. In Feb. 2013 I talked with Shane and sent the final payment. In May we discussed specifics on time/location etc. My wedding day came and Shane and his team were supposed to arrive at noon, didn’t hear from Shane and the wedding was at 2. Called and called and called, he finally texted and said his car was broken down, he had blown his transmission, his phone was about to die and he didn’t have good cell service. I asked him if we going to be able to make it at all and he never answered. I found out later he was at another wedding in Omaha, the same day as my wedding in Sioux Falls.  Over the next few months I sent him numerous emails/texts and phone calls. Eventually he answered and told me he was “broke”, his company was “broke” and he had absolutely no intention of giving us a refund. I advised him that if he didn’t make some kind of effort to make it right I was taking him to court. He told me to go ahead and take him to court, I would never get anything out of it.

In September I filed a small claims court case, and he requested a continuance and wrote a letter to the court stating that we never had a signed contract. He had emailed it to me and I printed it and signed it and sent it back. So he was saying since he never signed it, then it wasn’t a valid contract. The continuation date of 11/1/13 came around I drove from Kansas City to Omaha, NE and he didn’t show up for court. I presented my case to the judge and she granted a judgment against him. He had 30 days to appeal but never did so. It’s now 12/9/13 and he STILL hasn’t made a payment on the money he owes me… SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!! DO NOT BOOK THESE SCAMMERS!! THEY WILL TAKE MEMORIES FROM YOU THAT CAN NEVER BE REPLACED.
