Fox Rent A Car ripoff dishonest double charges billing Los Angeles California
I reserved a car for my parents with fox-rent-a-car since their prices were the least expensive. When my parents arrived to their LA office the guy ignored the reservation printout and gave them a different car. Still that wasn't a big problem.
A debit card was then given to counter guy "Ben" who swiped the card but THEN stated that they don't accept debit card and cash needed to be paid including a deposit of $250. My trusting dad paid cash totaling $478.33. All though he did ask for a receipt, Ben told him that "everything is in the computer" and that he need not worry.
After he came back to return the car 9 days later, another representative was there and she stated that there was no cash to be returned since the transaction was on the DEBIT CARD. NO CASH TRANSACTION WAS RECORDED IN THE SYSTEM. The manager John Zee was brought out but eventually my parents left without any resolution.
Once they came back to Philadelphia, I called the manager and he basically lied and said he looked over the videotape and there was no cash transaction and said verbatim "we're sticking to the story that there was no cash transaction"!!
The fact is that there ARE NO VIDEOTAPES IN THE LOBBY where the transaction took place as I later found out from the corporate manager and also from various other fox employees.
He also stated that the deposit of $216 was issued in our debit account NEVER appeared. Overall they charged us $956.66 for a $228.33 rental! Obviously this is not a pleasant experience and I advise everyone to stay away from this company since the even manager seems to be in on the scheme and automatically sides and backs up their employees! And being near the airport allows them to take advantage of out-of-state customers since it's a hassel to fly back to LA to take these scumbags to court.
