After an unbelivably persistant phone call from FREEDOM GOLD this am (which went exactly as the others here described) -- I decided to take as much action as possible and I URGE you to please do the same to take these money hungry theives DOWN FOR THE COUNT! Although the better business Bureau is resolving individual cases, Freedom Gold is NOT currently being investigated by the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISION (YET right?) Voice your complaints to them at: www.ftc.gov - a box at the bottom of that page says 'register complaint'

Then I wrote to the Florida state auditor general at:

The more complaints these agencies receive the more likely we can shut them down as a team effort. The following is a copy of my letter to Dateline, Good Luck everyone.

Hello. A Company called 'Freedom Gold' out of Largo, FLorida called me this am and told me of a wonderful offer they had. They only needed my checking account number to verify an active account -- but no charges would ever be made without my consent. Insisting that my account number goes into circulation automatically every time I write a check. And adding that my bank would never give out money for unauthorized charges anyway so it was completely fail safe. This is where the 10 minute phone call came to a head. He would go no further about how the company works until I gave him my info. WHICH I DID NOT! I then got off the phone after being hung up on by a 'manager' and I decided to research this company. I wish I had done that WHILE ON THE PHONE. So I could inquire as to the dozens of complaints about $199 being deducted from accounts nationwide, without authorization, by FREEDOM GOLD, who apparantly is associated with two other companies, one called VersiTalk. I am so sick of these rip offs I could spit. THis is even after I told the Guy our family's TOTAL income is only $650 a month currently and our bills total about $700. (THis is true)...... He said that is why a line of credit would be perfect for me. He never mentioned a cost for the package (which according to the other complaints....NEVER CAME) and he never mentioned an online store where all the credit is spent. I contacted the FTC of Florida and the BBB of Florida. However they are NOT under investigation by the FTC. And although from what I could find ... the BBB has settled 18 cases with this company --- the company is STILL up and running.... and making a killing from people who are willing to trust. It is my dream to shut companies like this down. But at $650 a month Im guessing that my resources would not be as productive as yours. Please help.
