Freedom Mortgage MCS Mortgage They have kept our Insurance check since February 2018 Florence South Carolina

Dear Personnel, I bought a home with a VA loan.

We closed on our home October 19, 2017. We had already paid for homeowners insurance for a full year in advance to closing. Also, I am a 100% service connected disabled Veteran which makes me Tax exempt in Florida. My loan broker was Jeremy Bodo with MCS Mortgage. I informed him up front that I did not want to use Freedom Mortgage. Within 30 days of closing I received a letter stating Freedom Mortgage would be my new mortgagor. We made our payments as described and agreed upon in our contract.  However, Freedom Mortgage, cashed our checks and held the money not applying it to our loan. We called them, faxed them, emailed them and hand wrote them using the USPS with certified mail numerous  times  giving them copies of our contract, proof of tax exempt status, prepaid Homeowners insurance for a year in advance and even had the insurance company verify the insurance status. Freedom Mortgage continued to cash our checks and not apply them to our account. They added late charges onto our loan. In fact they reported us as late payments every month on our credit report which has ruined our great credit, caused unbearable stress, embarrassment and put us in a position that we cannot refinance with another company.  They finally forced me into paying more than I agreed to in my contract so that they would quit placing late payments on my credit. Oh I almost forgot that when I paid what Freedom Mortgage wanted, they did remove one late charge from my loan balance but my credit is still ruined.

On top of this problem, I had previously had a VA home loan but we are selling that home to our daughter on contract with the monthly payments being made to us and drawn ACH to Freedom Mortgage.

During our move we found the dishwasher had been leaking and had caused much unseen damage. We contacted the insurance company (Federated National) and they sent us a check for $10,441.+  written to us and Freedom Mortgage. Freedom Mortgage stated we had to endorse the check and they would release the money to us in stages, however, this never happened. We used our savings to do the repairs and sent all of the information Freedom Mortgage requested several times,(see attachments) again by fax, email and overnight certified mail via USPS. Still, they refuse to release even a partial payment to us so that we can get a clean air test done. We have spent our savings and cannot do more without the money from the insurance. We cannot get an attorney because they have ruined our credit with their crunch tactics and I do not know where to go or what to do. Can You help? PLEASE! I have contacted the VA and hope to hear from them soon but people need to know what kind of company Freedom Mortgage really is. The Government needs to protect the Veterans from these kind of people and their company tactics.
