On February 14th I wanted to check my credit score online. I went to freescore.com to get my free once a year credit report as a nationwide consumer credit reporting companies n such as Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

The Free Score website asks for your credit information for "verification purposes". I was charged $1 the same day; I was a little surprised but I thought I was not a big deal. When checking my score in their website,  they popped all these questions regarding if I wanted to get a full membership. I clicked to all of them "No, thanks".

Regardless of my refusal I was still enrolled to a 7 day free-trial which I was totally unaware of; then, a week after I see a charge of $19.95 for the first month of the membership I remember to have refused. I called their customer service line and they told me that there some fine print that says I have to cancel to prior to the 7 day trial otherwise they start charging you month by month. This company is obviously taking advantage of the notes in small letters or the "fine print". I do not recall reading that. They refused to give me a credit for what they charged me.

I have a problem with that because, even though Freescore.com had my e-mail address, they never e-mailed me, not even once to let me know what I signed up for. Had they e-mailed me I could have been more careful and taken a decision whether I wanted their services or not. They even created an ID number for me which I was never told I even had. This practice seems very shady to me. Yes, I apparently agreed to their terms, but they know full well not to give you any heads up about upcoming charges or any information of your account, only AFTER you are charged.

What it supposed to be my free annual credit report did not turned out to be free at all. I disagree in their way of doing business and the way they manage to get clients and their money.
