We went looking for a teenage horse for our kids and Friends Of Horses said that they had a great horse that was kid broke and around the age we were looking for. We rode the horse prior to adopting him, he seemed fine. We arrived to pick him up and was told that they would mail the brand inspection in a week. I told them that we needed the brand inspection to travel, I was told by Bill the laws have changed and they mail them now. I hadn’t bought a horse in over ten years so I took Bill for his word, we also never received an adoption or sale contract. We got the horse home and had the vet come to look at him within days because we noticed little odd things about him. The vet told us that he was much older than they told us and he possible has liver or kidney issues and testing and ultrasound would need to be done, we also had his teeth floated since his teeth were bad and he misbehaved so badly for the vet that our vet didn’t see how they labeled him as a kid horse. We called the rescue and spoke to Bill since the horse is not what we they said and we told them we would bring him back since he was misrepresented to us about his health, age and abilities and Bill told me that they would only exchange the horse but would not give us a refund. Bill also said that they never told us the age of the horse and that he was a companion only horse and shouldn’t be ridden. I told Bill that we would not take any more of his horses since the others look sick and I wanted a refund. I also told him that I have the flyer that was on the horses stall that states his name, age (16yr) and he’s a great kid horse and rideable. I pointed out to him that they had us ride him before we adopted him and if he was a companion only horse, that should have never happened, for everyone’s safety. Once it was mentioned that I contacted the brand inspector commissioner about the lack of inspection Bill hung up on me.
