I purchased flowers from FTD - the transaction with FTD was great and the billing fine. However about 6 weeks after the transaction with FTD I found an mysterious $12 charge to my credit card. After some research I recognized the company as one who sent me junk mail after my transaction with FTD. I stopped payment via my credit card company and canceled the card.

Please note

- I DID NOT sign up/purchase anything from "Shopper Discount", other than assigning them to my junk mail account.

- I DID NOT give them my credit card information.

I wrote a letter to FTD about the sharing of my credit card information and I contacted Shopper Discount directly. I asked them to explain how/why they had my information and placed a fraudulent charge to my credit card - the Shopper Discount representative said that FTD is a "client". Shopper Discount had my credit card information, name, address, etc. They also would not give me a physical address, customer service rep last name, direct phone number or customer service identification number.

I let them know I had contacted FTD and my credit card company and would file a complaint with BBB and FTC. They were pleasant and promptly agreed to refund the charge on my credit card.

To contact Shopper Discount - call 800-889-8776 and wait to speak to a representative.

I will never use FTD again, and I am horrified to think they shared/sold? my personal information. I would say the same with Shopper Discount, but then I was never a customer to begin with!

FTD response

AUTHOR: Kel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 23, 2009

FTD representative responded saying that they did not share my credit card information, but they acknowledged it is possible to accidentally click on an "affiliate" who will then cause the situation I described.

This makes little sense to me, while using my laptop the cursor can activate screens(so to speak) unintentionally however this did not occur until after my transaction with FTD. Lastly, I did not provide Consumer Discount my address or credit card information so where did they get that information if not FTD.

The conversation with FTD devolved into them saying "they didn't do it" and citing their policy statement which says they will not share information. It is unfortunate that FTD takes this position and will not heed my feedback as a customer and do something proactive. This kind of shady business is unexpected with a big company like FTD.

Buyer beware.
