Gateway Financial Services Compensation Draw Winner $250,000 with fake check Calgary, Alberta Canada

I received a very real looking check for $4515.00 in the mail today from Gateway financial Services claiming that I was one of the winners in their "Compensation Draw". I tend to sign up for a lot of sweepstakes offers so I figured I would call and find out more information. Afterwards, I looked them up online to find out they are a scam.

Here is what the letter said:

We are pleased to advise you that you ware one of the wwinners in the "Compensation Draw" organized for all consumers in conjunction witht he Sweepstakes Association of North America".

An ENTRY SLIP with the serial number 4458077 is attached to your name and drew the lucky winning numbers 74-340-67-43-77.

You are entitles to the sum of US $250,000.00 (Two hundred and fifty thousand dollars) poayable to you by CERTIFIED CHECK and will be delivered to you by a courier company (FEdEx or UPS). You are therefore advised to contact your claims agents:

This letter and Check is TOTAL CRAP and a scam. Do not deposit it, because it will bounce. The check is from Wings Electro Sales CO, Inc. in Wellington Florida 33414.
