This company posted ads for sales and training positions located in central phoenix for a company that does the marketing for several large corporations including Verizon, AT&T, and Staples. It turns out that for the 1st interview you show up at a tiny office with two chairs and receptionist desk...no decorations anywhere. (I probably should have left then) Presumably the president of the company is conducting interviews just that afternoon but I notice in the 15 minutes I am there 3 other interviewees coming and going.

The 1st interview was fast and he assured me he wasn't looking for sales gurus but rather trainers. I was called that night to attend a second interview the next day where I would be able to tag along on a sales call.

Turns out that the 2nd interview was an unpaid 9-6 thing where they didn't even pay for lunch even though they tried to explain the "non-pyramid" scheme to me during my personal time.

The day was horrible!! The sales person I was with was already a "leader" after 3 weeks on the job and had not even been given his first commission-only paycheck. He made me walk into the funkiest businesses in South Phoenix with dress shoes, long pants, and sleeves after riding in a car with no A/C. He sold new business accounts only for Quill.com. Unfortunately a "leader" that had quit the previous month had already saturated that area of town (this guy's only territory) so we kept getting kicked out of places.

He also informed me throughout the day that he had done time in tent city for drug possession...great huh? He even wanted me to buy him lunch and cigarettes since he was low on cash. All day he kept telling me the crude text messages that he was getting and how he was updating the boss on my interest in the company.

Had I not been stranded in So. Phoenix without my car I would have left after the first "sales call." Don't fall for this stuff please!!!

GDR & Associates

AUTHOR: Fareel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 07, 2008

I feel rather sorry for you that actually came back for the 9-6 "interview". The person I "interviewed" with did indicate that it would be a full day "interview" in which he wanted to see how I would "deal" with rejection face to face. He also mentioned that there would anywhere from 3-30 applicants that would be called back for the second interview. When I arrived there was no one front desk attendant however there was four other people waiting to be interviewed. Once I walked in and saw the office I realized what the "deal" was. One conf room, the front desk reception area and another office in the back. Obviously you are not going to be working out of the office so that leaves...... Yup you guessed it! Since I wasted the gas to show up and "interview" I decided to stick around to hear the spiel. I quickly realized what was up and decided before the interview was over that I would not be returning the phone call. To which I can say they did call me back. Ha, ha. I stared to LMAO when I was driving home and I was telling my brother about the job. He laughed and told me straight up "Why would those huge companies utilize a small company to market their goods when they already pay millions for advertising on their own." I never thought to ask that question. Bottom line. If you hate those people that try to get you to buy family portraits at the grocery store, try to sell you home improvement classes outside of the "do it yourself stores" or the girl trying to sell you car wax at the corner station don't get mad. Just remember. They came back and stuck it out for at least one more day. If this isnt your bag then do not show up. Hopefully I can save somebody some gas.

Face to Face sales

AUTHOR: Anon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 20, 2008

GDR and Associates is actually part of a much larger organization that does face to face sales/marketing for many Fortune 500 companies. They handle multi-billion dollar clients like Verizon B2B, Quill, Qwest, AT&T, and Direct Energy to name a few.

The interview process is done in such a way as to both maximize time and to find the right people for the job. The full second day interview is merely so both the interviewer and trainer can see if the job is a comfortable match on both sides. The management training program instituted in this business is fast paced and aggressive because of the clients demanding need for reliable, professional, and hard-working business owners.

As for your experience with this trainer all I can say is that if he continues to behave like that rest assured he will not last long. Also the reason one is promoted to leadership so quickly is due to the belief that the best way to learn something is by teaching it.

Companies like GDR and Associates are built by people helping other people to reach their goals and to pass on the opportunity they were given to the next person who is willing to work for it.

GDR & Associates is truly ridicuous.

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

I had almost the exact same experience as this other person with GDR & Associates (I discovered that GDR is the initials of the guy I had my interview with. He was the 'owner of the company' and couldn't have been older than 30). The following is my e-mail sent to HR at GDR:

I went on a second "interview" with your company on Thursday. I just wanted to let you know what a horrible experience it was. First off, no one told me I would be walking around Phoenix soliciting. So not only was I ridiculously uncomfortable wearing the shoes I had on, I was also uncomfortable with the fact that we were attempting to do the impossible: sway big companies to change their supplier at the drop of a hat. Your salespeople had horrible sales tactics, didn't take 'no' for an answer (when it really DID mean NO!), and on top of it all, my "trainer" refused to bring me back to my car at the time I decided that your company was not the best fit for me.

As a result, I had to call my boyfriend to come from his house to get me in the middle of Phoenix's business district. Not only were your salespeople unprofessional, I felt like it was downright rude and inconsiderate to leave a woman by herself in an unfamiliar territory, when her car is a mere 5 miles away. I am unsure what effect this e-mail will have on you, but I hope the result will at least be a consciousness of how unprofessional I believe your company to be.

I am extremely upset with this marketing company scam. The website of the company is completely unprofessional looking and contains a lot of false information regarding the previous/current clients of GDR: http://www.gdrinconline.com/

The website claims that they represent multiple Fortune 500 companies. They only represent Quill- a division of Staples. A division so small that they don't have a storefront or anything but catalogs and a website to order from. I am not upset with Quill in any degree. I am furious with the representative from GDR that I had to ride around with. I believe it is the same person as the previous poster. My 'trainer' too had no A/C in his vehicle and was just downright unprofessional.

I hope no one else gets suckered in to this horrible trap. I am glad I got out of it before anything further happened. PLEASE beware of this so-called company!
