Purchased 2 coloured diamonds 5 years ago. They said they would sell at a profit. No sale. Told me last Sept. to let them put one diamond in a ring $8g and they would put it in the Hong Kong auction in Feb 12/18. They took delivery of this stone last year so is in their care, I still have one in my care.

Called Mr Ruben Ross from Genesis Rare Diamonds and told me the stone was sold for $93000.00 US. After many calls from me and promises from Ross that payment was forthcoming he will not return my calls. We get all kinds of promises. Where is my stone, should I report it missing, they had insurance on it for safekeeping.

 I was finally able to get my item back after using a lawyer in Toronto. Their office said I was not the first one to contact them. Wondering if others have got their items back, or what is going on. I heard police were investigating. Also, did anyone catch Gregory Finney latest attempt at theatre?? What a joke!! Jeffery Kushner

I have had this exact problem with Reuben Ross and Genesis Rare Diamonds. He has repeatedly set timelines for "funds" to be received and dispersed but nothing materialized. Now no response and no show to an appointment to meet. Yes we should get our stories heard as a group. And seek legal assistance if necessary.

 I have received an email this week saying the current Hong Kong auction will be moved to Dec due to larger then expected interest. How many people have paid to be in this auction? I don't understand why they are asking for more for this auction, when they are suppose to re-auction your item until sold. Can anyone please confirm if they have every actually sold an item and received their money? I see many comments about being told it was sold. No one has every said they sold and got funds.

I would be interested to know if these are isolated incidents, or a larger issue. How many others have been to the office? ##really would like to know if anyone has attended any of the auctions or events in the last few years! There is videos online from 2014 auctions but nothing since. We need to all work together here and post as much information as possible to try and figure this out. I know it is upsetting and worrying to post information online. I'm not saying personal information, but just more about your experience. I have had similar to a few posters here. I bought a few years back from another sales person (not Reuben). I was satisfied and kept my item in storage.

I was contacted almost two years ago by Reuben Ross asking if I wanted to try and sell my item. I had owned for 3+ years, so figured worth a try. The prices were reasonable, about a 40-60% price to list over what I paid. Great return if could sell, but also not so high it made me suspicious. I have been in auctions since. I am worried at the lack of customer service when trying to get responses from this business. I have gone weeks at times, as others have said, with no response. Then I get an email or call which generally answers my questions. At this point I do not know how to proceed. This company has been in business since 2008 according to BBB.org.

So, made me feel confident in getting involved with them in the past. Now there seems to be more and more negative reviews. I know all companies have negative reviews. Has anyone got there money back, or their item back and just given up? How has that worked out for you? Have you found other places to resell your item? Thanks everyone for posting so far.

I'm glad I found this tonight. I will continue to monitor this feed and post updates. I urge you all to as well. Of course anyone can read this, but I think it is worth it for us. We could try and form a group to discuss between all of us; however, I worry about the logistics and people from the company getting involved secretly. Legal Action Against Rueben Ross, Excalibur Royale / Genesis Diamonds

Hi All,

We are in the same boat as many of you. We ourselves have "sold" diamonds with Rueben and have yet to receive any compensation for our diamonds. We are constantly chasing him and his associate Dave (finance) about progress and its just lie after lie. They have told us they had to switch banks to an offshore bank and have sent wires repeadetly with no proof of wire confirmation. It is lie after lie and we continue to catch them.

As a side note: I have met Rueben and his associate Dave in person and have been to the Toronto office.

It is sad to see so many people being taken advantage of. We have a meeting setup for next week November 22nd with our lawyers to pursue legal action against Rueben and Excalibur Royale / Genesis Rare Diamonds. We have all the communication, documents and messages.

I would like to extend this invitiation to anyone who would like to join us in this legal pursuit. The more people that come forward to show the fraudulent acts they continuously display and the more evidence we can build, will lead to a better result.

Enough is enough, and we all deserve what we have been promised time and time again.

 I’ve left messages for Mr. Ross and emailed the company it still have not got any word back. This guy is horrible. Over promises and under delivers and always has a lame excuse.

Still Having Issues

Wondering if anyone else here has made any progress? I am still having issues getting any answers.

There are a few bad reviews on Google Reviews over the last couple years. There is also 1 Consuner Complaint on BBB that shows it was resolved to the customers sasifcation.

I would like this to end positively for everyone, and that is why I have not moved forward with a BBB complaint, or other forms similar (Ontario Consumer Protection). I still do not know if this is as bad as other diamond selling scams that you see online, or just poor customer service. I am hoping for the latter.

No progress

Still no word from GR Diamonds. I suggest everyone makes contact with the police by next week: http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/financialcrimes/.

Collective action is needed.

Like anyone else here, all it takes is for them to get in touch and explain the situation and give us the truth and then further action can be avoided. Yet they don't seem to have the decency or guts to do this. 

Like another comment below suggests - it would good if someone in their locality is able to visit the office and force an explanation.

Have you heard anything more since posting?

Wondering if everyone has heard anything since posting? I have heard back from company, and feel that things are starting to be worked on. I am still a bit nervous about this all, and hope things will work out soon.

Does anyone think they won't get their diamond back? Or that the sale of it and the fee for that sale is being lied about? Or is it just really bad customer service? I feel that my item is not "stolen", but that the sale didn't actually happen and now they are trying to sell somewhere to fix. I also think the customer service is lacking, with the amount of posts saying no calls back. I would be surprised if this has happened for years with no posts anywhere on the internet until now? The company appears to be started in 2008/09, or around there.

Has anyone visited the office? I have not. Could someone posting who lives close go there and see what they find out? Post back as you guys hear more from company, so we can all feel a little better! Thanks!

Same Issues As Well

I am also having a similar issue. I am still hoping this will be resolved and that it is just poor customer service. I have only been in contact twice since the date of auction. Both times I was given a certain date for payment, and those dates passed with no phone call or email. I have also been dealing with Reuben Ross at Excalibur Royale/Genesis Rare Diamonds.

I have an email to the Ontario Consumer Protection Board. I will post the follow up to this once they let me know what we should do.

Hope this works out for all of us yet.

 Same issue as above. Reuben Ross of Excalibur Royale will not return my calls. Unprofessional and Incompetent. At the moment, this company looks like a scam and if I do not hear back from Reuben by this Monday, I will pursue this matter through media, social media, police and legal avenues. I will update with what happens and if everything turns out a-ok, I will praise them appropriately. If not, then I will do my part to ensure that no one else gets scammed by these guys again.

I am having the exact same issue

I invested in 2010/11 and have been trying to exit since the end of 2011.

Just like you, I had to pay to enter the auction and after the HK action in Feb 2018, Reuben told me every item at the auction was sold apart from one high-value diamond, and that my jewellery had a bid just under $50K.

He said he would be in touch 2 weeks later. I did not hear from him again - tried over and over. I did finally manage to call him a month later, when the receptionist was not there to screen my call. He said unfortunately my jewellery did not get any bids in the auction (complete reverse of the previous claim), but that another reliable buyer had come forward afterwards and he would call in 2 weeks once payment was received.

Obviously no payment and no call since then - I can't count how many times I've tried to call and how many messages I've left.

Currently taking various steps to resolve, starting with a BBB complaint, and more to come imminently. Legal action to follow if not resolved soon.
