This is a Scam. How do we know? This was addressed to someone who has never paid a utility bill or a phone bill ..... The envelope is from "PO Box 52654, MTL, QC H4m 1X5." Had a "Canada Stamp" on it. It also said "Fraud - Prevent It!" "La frauds - Prevenez - la!" "090306 18:34 H4T 1AO 103"

We called The Alaska Federal Bureau of Investigations and verified this, as you should as well. Research, research, & research everything possible. If is to good to be true, then its probably a Scam, Scam, & Scam. This just shows that people will do anything for money especially during these times. Please do not let your friends and family fall for these scams. We called the number and it was answered by Mrs. Myers - we hung up.

Here is what the letter said:
RE: Award Winning Notification:

Congratulations on your success as one of the winners of North American Utilities draw held on Monday April 24th 2008. Participants were selected through a computer ballot system, drawn from 149,000 telephone numbers and utilities bills of the individuals who sign up for the services. Your ticket number: 1645, with the serial number BR-717 emerged as one of hte winning tickets. You have therefore been awarded a lump sum pay out of $46,500USD cash, which is the winning payout for the series. This is from total prize money of $25,234,000.00 shared among the winners.

Our firm has secured for, the percentage surcharge to be paid as commission on your winning prize to the Lotto Regulatory Board, saving you the trouble. The check for $4,910.00 enclosed covers the charges/fees required to be paid, prior to receiving your winning. Keep winning confidential until your prize money is received to avoid multiple claims.

Please call your payment coordinator Mrs. Anita Myers or Mr. Michael Simmons at 1-514-638-8634 as soon as you receive this notice to assist you in finalizing th payment process.
