Global Retail Maintenance Better be prepared to make about fifty phone calls if you want to get paid! Great Neck New York

Global Retail Maintenance is a maintenance company that services (or used to service) a variety of retail stores like Ann Taylor, Aldo, Claire's, EB Games, Ashley Stewart, J Jill, etc. They subcontract independant handymen and specialized companies to provide the service. The store or chain pays them, and then they are supposed to pay you within thirty days. Well, I'll tell you, the one thing this company is good at is coming up with excuses why you havn't gotten paid yet. And that's if you ever manage to get ahold of accounts payable, who simply NEVER return phone calls.

I am one of their previous subcontractors. I have NEVER had any timlieness, quality, or professionalism issues of any kind. Yet, every single time I have worked for them, trying to get paid is nearly impossible. Usually I'd wait forty days or so till my check was overdue, then (try) to call to see where it is. It usually took six to ten phone calls, and another few weeks to ever get paid. They are TERRIBLE! The last straw was they hired me for a small job, sent me the purchase order, and verbally confirmed they wanted the work. And by now I had started recording all calls with this company so I even had it on tape. I completed the job. Sure enough, never got paid. After probably fifteen phone calls, including many to Sean Blank the owner, they still insisted they had never authorized the work. I told them in no uncertain terms that I would never again work for them.

Oh, it gets better. Over the next six months they continued to send me work orders, begging me to give them another chance. Obviously they couldn't get anyone else to work for them either. The last time they called, they even pretended to be a different company on the phone! Like I wouldn't figure that out. I told them that if they called me again I was going to file a police report for harrasment. That was (finally!) the last call from them.

Stay FAR away from these guys!
