I just moved to Tacoma, Washington from Lansing, KS, and I booked Globe Moving and Storage to move me on May 27, 2011. My reference/job number is G393201, the company lists their US DOT number as 1840689 and their MC number as 667104. I have paid them $550 for a deposit on my mastercard, $749 when they picked up my goods on 07/31/11 on my mastercard, and have another money order for $749 that I am supposed to give them upon delivery. When I booked with this company in May, I worked with their sales rep, Sebastian Shortt, who took my credit card information and among other things, assured me that my things would arrive in Tacoma in 6-8 days. After that date, I waited to hear from them, as they were to call 24-48 hours before loading my goods. They arrived on the 31st, 4 hours late, but 3 men loaded my things very professionally and efficiently.

Preston was the "foreman" and has since been referred to as a "dispatcher," and he assured me that he would be in contact throughout the move and also stated that my goods would arrive in 6-8 days. Since my belongings left my residence in Lansing, my family and I have attempted to reach this company via telephone and email upward of hundreds of times and have the phone records to prove this. Of these many attempts, no one has responded to my emails, and maybe one in twenty phone calls is answered. And when it is answered the call sounds like it is underwater and nothing can be understood. The company has eight different phone numbers listed online or on the documentation I have been given from them, and we have called and left messages daily with no returned calls(numbers include 18006630539, 13035851637, 16204504715, 18882788121, 17202370877, 17203779493, 16204504718, 17202213220). Danielle is a customer service representative who is the only person that occasionally answers these calls at many of the numbers, and she has assured us that Preston would call us back, which has not happened, and that the company would call daily per our request which she "noted in our file", which also has not happened.

She also told us that a truck broke down that was in route to pick up my things and that is why it was delayed. I have asked her where the physical location of my belongings are several times, and she says that she cannot tell me and that Preston will have to call me back, but that they are in a warehouse somewhere in Kansas. Meanwhile Preston told us on 08/01/11, that my goods would be on a truck on 08/03/11, and we never heard from him again, though we continue to call daily. Upon calling several other numbers, my family got in contact with a "dispatcher" named Mike Deder, located in Denver, CO, who said that my goods were kicked off a truck and in a location in one of three warehouses in Kansas City. Based on the dates discussed with Sebastian upon booking this move, in good faith, I promised my employer in Washington that I could start work on 08/15/11, and now I have no work clothes to do so.

I have had to buy professional clothing to be fit to work on the 15th, and air mattresses and other items for daily living for my apartment, and my mother, who traveled here with me to drive my car up, now has to change her plane ticket and take off days of work in order to be here to greet the movers upon delivery, assuming they actually do deliver my goods as promised. Though 2 employees of this company told me that my things would be delivered in 6-8 days, upon reading the fine-print of my bill of lading it is apparent that my delivery could occur up until the 20th. Based on reports that have been posted on the internet at ripoffreport.com and other sites since I booked this company, I am concerned that I will not even see my belonging again. The company also lists the better business bureau in two places on their website and failed to notify me that their endorsement was revoked. I feel like I have been taken advantage of and that my moving rights have been violated.

At this point, I desire, per US DOT publication FMCSA-ESA-03-005 to obtain a physical location of my goods, a copy or means of filing a complaint with the company (which we have requested, and we received a non-functional website from Mike Deder), a guaranteed/expedited delivery date (which I was not offered or aware of when booking this move), and a customer service department that actually returns my phone calls and inquiries. I have been told 3 different stories by 3 different representatives of this company as to the progress of my move and the location of my belongings. Ultimately I just want my goods, they have more sentimental value than any monetary value, but their monetary value is greater than $20,000, and if my goods are not delivered by the 20th I will be pursuing means to obtain the monetary value of my goods, the payments I have delivered in good faith to Globe Moving and Storage, the costs of lodging and expenses for living and working, as my belongings to do so remain in a location to which I am not privy. I feel that my contract has materially changed since based on Globe Moving and Storage's promise of delivery, and above all, I want to make sure that my problem is rectified and that this does not happen to other consumers.
