I am a SINGLE STRUGGLING PARENT of a 3 year old boy. I hired Globe Moving & Storage to move my things from Kansas City, MO to Brooklyn, NY. The order was set up by someone named Josh. He assured me it was reputable company. A family business that has been around for several years. He advised me that the minimum weight was 2000 pounds, and it didn't sound like I had anywhere near 2000 pounds. He suggested that since I had to pay all that money ($1300), that I pack up everything I possibly could and put on the moving truck. Which naively I did.

I have never heard of a moving scam before. Josh assured me several times that my rate would not be more than $1300, and the $1300 included everything from door to door, and there would be absolutely no shuttle fees. I did explain to Josh that if it was more than $1300, I would not be able to afford it and would have to find other means for this move. Josh plesantly reassured me, and advised me not to worry about anything, "we'll get you all taken care of", he said.

3 men arrived at my house in Kansas City on june 9, 2011 to move me. They seemed professional and did a decent job getting everything on the truck. The company called me On Wednesday, June 13 to advise me my things will arrive the following day in Brooklyn (which was within the window date requested). Well, my horror story began when the truck driver named 'Tal' called me sounding like he was on amphetamines. He asked how much was my balance, and before thinking I told him $500. Tal then said (yelling & screaming) I want cash, "GIMME CASH ONLY!". I became a little leary of this person. I had been dealing with the company with my credit card up until this point. I also thought if he is working for this company delivering my items, shouldn't he know how much my balance is? I emailed the company to confirm, and never received a response (still waiting). (The company and/or Josh had no problem responding when they took my payments).

The next day I called the company & finally got thru to someone. This person said yes give the driver cash only. Ok, the driver 'Tal' calls me & says he is in NJ & on his way at that point I asked my mother to get the cash from the bank while I go to the storage facility to meet 'Tal'. Tal arrived aprox 10 minutes later (from NJ to Bklyn-YEAH RITE!), He was very short tempered, yelling, cursing, screaming, he even almost walked through the glass instead of opening the door. It seemed as if he was not right in his mind. He also had 2 goons with him. They looked very scary & intimidating. We had to go to the the back of the facility for access to my storage unit, no one was there but us. Tal & his 2 goons surrounded me and demanded the money. Screaming & Yelling 'GIMME THE CASH NOW!" They were acting like they were commiting a robbery. I told Tal my mother is coming now with the cash she's not even 10 minuets away. Tal cursed me out and said he will wait 10 minutes - which he didn't wait at all. He immediately jumped on his truck while his goons made sure he had a clear get away path, then they jumped on the truck and speeded off.

My mother pulled up, while they had just passed the light on the next block. My mother (70 years old) went speeding to see if she could catch them, but couldn't. I called Tal & said my mother is trying to catch you can you please turn around. Tal said "NO, I'm on the Manhattan Bridge now (which was a LIE of course) you want your stuff, rent a truck, meet me in New Jersey in 1 hour, make sure you have $500 & I'll give you your stuff!" My 70 year old mother even called him to ask him to come back and Tal just screamed at her and cursed her out also.

All of this going on and at the same time I am calling the moving company. When I finally got to speak with someone they said the driver had to wait 3 hours for me (which I told them was a BOLD FACE LIE!) So, here's a few of the stories I was told of what to do to get my stuff:

pay $350 for redelivery & $150 a day for storage in additon to the $500 balance

pay $450 for redelivery & $150 a day for storage in addition to the $500 balance

maybe we can charge you $200 for redelivery & $150 daily for storage in addition to the $500

Pay $150 a day storage until you get a truck and come get your own stuff (in addition to the $500)

pay $450 for redelivery, maybe we can work something out with the payments, cause you have a $500 balance or rent a truck go get your stuff it's $150 to store, but that is not a daily fee.

In the meantime I have none of my belongings. Me or my son. EVERYTHING was on that truck. My son's first books, all his toys, the outfit he came home from the hospital in when he was born. All my family pictures and keepsakes. Everything you possibly need to function in your home. Every drop of the little bit of funiture i proudly OWNED.

I am happy that I found this website. I am not stopping here. I am contacting any person, department, and/or agency that will litsen. These people need to be stopped. They need to be sued and imprisoned. If there are others out there... I URGE you - let's get together and create a CLASS ACTION against this company, the owner's/founder's, employee's, driver's, and any person/s, group/s, company/companies affiliated with Globe Moving & Trucking.

Don't go postal... just go and file complaints with any/every agency/bureau/administration/news stations... anything that you can think of. I feel your pain. Your pain is my pain times three. Don't give up, even if the company has closed. Do the research and look for the people behind the company. If there is a will, there is a way. Every wrong, will be righted... and so on and so on... in other words, these peolpe have messed with the wrong one... I AM NOT GIVING UP WITHOUT A FIGHT!!! These people not only stole from me, they stole from my 3 year old son (everything that is dear to his heart & mine). THEY GOT THE WRONG ONE! Do not leave it alone, if so, that is how they are able to keep doing it.

No. This is not a competitor's story, this is real talk, and I have absolutely no means to replace anything. It is a SHAME what these crooks have done to me and others that have had the unfortunate experience of dealing with this fiticious company. Not only do I feel for myself, but I feel for anyone involved in this scam. These peolpe should be/have to be STOPPED! (not to mention THROWN in JAIL!)

BBB Is Useless..But Authorities Less So....

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 07, 2011

Every mover that gets busted by the police eventually shuts down, but not by the authorities.  Most shut themselves down, and then reopen as another mover under a brand new name, and carry on just as they did before.  No complaints.  No bad reports here or elsewhere.  That's why saying, "don't use "X" mover" is a useless gesture.  I've even heard of people doing that, going back on the internet to contract with another mover a few years later (a major gigantic no-no), only to find it's the very SAME mover that destroyed their items years before.  Closed down and reopened with a new name.

The BBB has no tool or interest in letting consumers know whether a company may have owners who have scammed consumers in the past, especially if they've been owners now or in the past.

I would be interested in anyone who contacted moverescue dot com to help get their stuff back to see if this may be a viable tool for consumers to use.  I have heard on a few occasions that they worked pretty well, however I don't know whether it was them, or simply the mover finally getting around to the shipper....if you haven't used them, I suggest it again.

Unfortunately Globe probably couldn't care less

AUTHOR: voiceofreason - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, August 06, 2011

The fact that they shirked off the BBB by not adhering to the BBB's member requirements shows they couldn't care less about anyone's complaints. Alone, each victim of their's is probably crap out of luck, money, and maybe even belongings. I'm assuming that Globe was either bought out by shysters looking to short-order milk a BBB member company dry for all its reputation was worth, before the crap hit the fan leaving them badly rated, or they played by the rules long enough to establish good BBB ratings, then milked those ratings for an illicit fortune before finally rendering the company's reputation trash. They've probably already moved on to set up another such company to do the same all over again. But the authorities do press charges against crook movers; I see the stories in the news.

here's what you need to do

AUTHOR: brianandjenell - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, August 04, 2011

My report is the one the says "i don't know where to begin with this company".......anyway what you need to do first is to type up your complaints as a document so you can cut and past it to the complaint websites.  second, look them up with their dot number with the kansas bbb and file a complaint there.  there is infact an investigation going on with them.  third file a complaint with protectyoumoved.gov...thats what the bbb will tell you and then you also need to call Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration 8008325660 and file a complaint with them.  they will take down everything and you can call back to add to it.  ALL these things are must.  It is time consuming but it must and needs to be done.  They are no longer a registered company with the bbb and they have NO rating and with proctectyoumove.gov, please read the other complaints....you are not alone.  I am so sorry for what you are going thru, I was there.  And the only way to make it stop is to stand together.  save all you emails from them, your contracts everything, the bbb may ask for it.  they asked for mine.  You will make it thru this.

Wasting Time With a Lawsuit

AUTHOR: Jim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 04, 2011

For starters, a lawsuit won't go anywhere.  Aside from the limitations on what you can sue them for, they haven't done anything illegal.  In the moving industry, even if you have a binding contract, the mover can change the terms and conditions as soon as the mover shows up and declares you have more stuff than your quote suggests.  The best part is, they place that blame upon you!!  The mover can technically be as negligent as you can imagine, and you won't be able to sue them for it.  All the mover has to you is yell 'Carmack Amendment' and the suit is tossed.  The police won't help, the DOT agency in your state lacks jurisdiction, and the Fed's are useless, though I would file a complaint with the FMCSA - maybe one of their three people overseeing the several thousands of moves occuring each year might do something (not).

What to do?  At this point, I would contact the folks at www dot moverescue dot com.  If the mover is a member of the AMSA, the folks there have people and lawyers at their disposal to help you get your stuff back.

Moving is not inexpensive; if all you had was $1300 to move yourself, you would have been best advised to do it yourself.  If you had gotten a quote from a reputable mover, you would know how expensive moving is, and the reputable movers only make 5% profit on each move.  For those of you who used Globe and have your stuff, just let it go.  Chalk this up to your naivete in thinking you could move that cheaply.  Best of luck to you.

Totally agree

POSTED: Wednesday, August 03, 2011

I am with you all the way on a class action suit. I'm not going into gory details until I get my things back, but I will say this, the estimates they give you aren't worth the paper they are printed on. We have gotten nothing but the run around since they they came and got our things. The sales people that get you comitted make you feel like you are so important and that they are going to take care of you. Sure they do, until they get your money. I have 3 small kids that have been going without since July 16th and I have had enough!!!!!!

Everything I own - MISSING!

AUTHOR: NiCole ''Ko-koa'' - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, July 18, 2011

I just would like to add, when Globe Moving & Storage told me to get a truck and go get my stuff, I said ok "where do I go?" -- The response was "I don't know where your stuff is, I can only tell you that it is 10 miles away from your address."
