Ryan Smith territory manager and Ryan Lawrence, a store manager of ThousandOaks Village Go Wireless in Newbury Park, has clearly allowed his staff to fraudulently misrepresent the terms of the contract and cell service I obtained through this branch.

I purchased a HTC Thunderbolt and 2 year contract in March of 2011 with troubles soon to
follow. The wireless consultant Zach who sold me this phone praised the phone and its functionality. However, I soon found out otherwise. One issue, the battery life performance is minimal, thus having to charge the telephone often,
the texting application takes 20-30 seconds to load each text while being sent out, and the voice text is clearly a gimmick.

When I met with this wireless consultant Zach I was in the company of my (2) year old son, who required a tremendous amount of supervision.  Due to my circumstance, it was obvious to Zach the wireless consultant that I would need extra help in deciding what plan and phone to purchase due to my distraction.  He clearly took advantage of this situation. I trusted him to explain every reasonable detail to me in purchasing this plan and phone as a salesman should.

Nineteen (19) days into this contract, I returned to the office; requesting a change in phones. Zach informed me I could only do this within the first fourteen (14) days of the contract.

In September 2011, I went back to the store and inquired about a family plan option for my disabled mother and her only income from Social Security. The wireless consultant ERIC PAUL explained that I did not need to use the Black Berry Phone I brought in and I was eligible for a free upgrade with her being added to my account. At that time I specifically told this wireless consultant ERIC PAUL I dont want any international roaming to be allowed and want to make sure that this is just an added line not a new customer.

I went on to ask this wireless consultant if this was grandfathered in to my initial contract date in
March and the reply was yes. I was also told the buyout of the contract was $175
total and this was a message that was conveyed from the very beginning which
leads me to believe this is a TRAINED TACTIC.

The misrepresentation consists of wide-spread payment collection from financially stressed consumers seeking relief from general inflation, and rising cost of living to have a good cell phone plan.  Extremely attractive claims from both of these wireless consultants resulted in minimal commissions and quotas met. With the results to my billing and service the following:

October 2011: My mothers cell phone was shut off 1 month after being added on the family plan
for $49.99 a month and the reason for this action was based on more misrepresentation from this store.

I found out through my first of 3 lengthy calls to Verizon Financial Services the phone in which my disabled mother uses was added on to my plan and SET UP AS ITS OWN SEPARATE LINE CREATING A BILL OF $340 and change in billing.
My phone bill went from an avg. of $130 a month to $340.

After a 45 minute combined phone call I was told the credits were put back toward the account in which I was elated to hear.

November 2011: My cell phone was texted service will be interrupted if my bill was not paid current; 3 weeks after my mothers phone being shut off and yet another phone call to Verizon Financial Services this being the 2nd of 3 calls.
I was then told my balance was $280 and some change. I was then informed the adjustments were never applied to the first billing issue and my service would not be interrupted and within 48 hours this gentlemen would get
back to me with the correct information. The next morning I awoke on Dec. 2nd to my phone being shut off.

I drove directly to the Verizon store located at Broadbeck Dr. Unit E Thousand Oaks, CA 91360, because both my conversations with Verizon Financial Services they indicated the problem started with the wireless consultant who
set this new line up.

Upon my arrival at 9:15 AM the store was closed and the young lady inside was pleasant enough to see I needed some help I explained the situation to her and expressed I need someone to call me. That day I heard from NO ONE and decided to stop by with my 2 year old approximately 3:45PM thinking this was a simple fix.

Over 2 hours later and yet another phone calls with Verizon Financial Services and then transferred to customer loyalty department the result is as follows:

My phone bill was not fixed correctly the assistant manager while temporarily helpful ultimately turned into a resistant party partially because I was not happy to hear my contract buy out was and is $600!!!!!! Reasoning for
this would be the cost of my HTC THUNDERBOLT $270 (which only has a trade in value of $93 with Verizon) and THE FREE PHONE my mother received would cost me $330 to buyout.

I asked customer loyalty if I could pay $300 and be done with my contract.
The answer NO. I told them take the phones back I dont want them and I will still pay $300 to no longer be a Verizon customer. We cant do that and the store manager told me I should have read my CONTRACT.

At this point I explained being a consumer without legal representation and a 2 year old son with me on these occasions I put my faith in your Wireless Consultants to do the right thing and explain to me the fine print and the many pages of the agreement in completion so I was very clear of the terms.

This is a FAR CRY from $175 I was told while chasing my 2 year old around on the first visit and helping my mom on the second visit and being instructed why use the black berry you have when you can have a free upgrade?

Upon finding this information out I, directed my frustration with the store manager at that time 5:45 PM Dec. 2nd, 2011
explaining this is completely UNACCEPTABLE and I want out of my contract. Up to this point I have now spent over 4 hours total between phone calls with Verizon and visiting the store with this issue.

The misrepresentation continues with an email I received on Dec. 5th informing me that I have INTERNATIONAL ROAMING CHARGES TOTALING $900+ in fees. My mother frequently seeks medical assistance in Rosarito, Mexico because of affordability on her limited income. It turns out the phone was allowed to be turned on although I had specifically requested no international roaming be allowed on this plan!!

I made yet another call to the number indicated on my email for billing to ask for a supervisor and through a series of transfers I was placed with Karen Burley and found her to finally be the first amazing person that actually cared to fix the situation. She upon finality of our conversation explained to me that the bill had been fixed and through doing some data
package management everything would be balanced out by January 2012. I simply asked her can I just pay the $270 on my contract and someone clear the $330 that is supposedly owed for the simple addition on a phone line
on a FREE PHONE?

I will send the phones back I dont want them I explained again and the answer was still NO. I found Karen to be extremely helpful and yet the next day I received a text stating "Your credit/adjustment request has been processed. Your balance is $342.18, which includes credits/adjustments totaling $270.93." I just paid $138 and change plus $15 activation fee on Dec.2nd to get my phone operating.

Dec. 6th, 2011 I received a text from a email adasdfe@yahoo.com and in the text message it states f*g and upon my initial investigation into this by Google: text from email address the 3rd link down is a Verizon Wireless Platform https://text.vzw.com/customer_site/jsp/messaging_lo.jsp in which you can do such a action and blindly input any sender info.

I find the timing of this text message to be highly ironic and yet I cant confirm the originator at this time my suspicion is that someone from the Verizon Go Wire Less store located at 1025 Broadbeck Dr. Unit E Thousand Oaks, CA 91360.

TO THIS DAY I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A COPY OF MY ORIGINAL CONTRACT and my bill is over $1000!!

I'm sorry but "chasing a 2 year old" is not a legal excuse for absent mindedly singing a 2 year financial agreement that you didn't bother reading. Clearly you were so distracted you only heard what you wanted to hear. First, any new line qualifies for a new phone at a discounted price. The phone you selected was free. The full retail value of a "free" phone you get with a new contract is anywhere from $400-$600. You should have realized that when you paid tax on the full retail value, which is a California law. You get it for a discount because you're signing a new contract. Second, you were not clear in saying you didn't want international roaming. What you said means you don't want an international travel package. You should have known that to use your phone in any other country would accumulate charges. Sorry, "I wasn't paying attention" and "I didn't actual read what I signed" is not a valid excuse. Readers, for the love of god pay attention and stop making sales people just trying to do their job your easy scapegoat for your stupidity. And as for the "f*g" text, that could be anybody. The email you're referring to is a really common free texting app.
