Government Grant Information Guide rip-off! Saint Petersburg Florida

I received a call from a man "David Becker" with a thick accent saying I have been chosen to be a "Lucky recipiant of $8000 in government grants". He asked if I was over 18 and a taxpayer and I have won this non taxable, non refundable interest free grant from Federal because I have regularly paid my taxes. It just didn't sound right that Federal would grant me minimum $8000 upto maximum $25000 of grant money just because I paid my taxes and ofcourse without a lot of paperwork! He said I get a mail in the next 7-10 business days and I have to sign that paperwork and forward it back to him at St Petersburg address.

Something just seemed right so I asked him to give me his contact info which he said his empno was 1310. He couldn't answer some of my questions a typical one being "Why has Federal setup a customer service in an Asian country?"

He insisted for my bank name, routing number and account number. What confused me the most was even without the application going through and with initial stage of processing why would he want my financial institution details. Upon asking this question he said because the funds would come in as a demand draft or as a check. I was constantly arguing with him over a point why would he require any of my bank info without processing the paper work. HIs reply was "$8000 was a minimum guarantee Federal was going to pay me"

I didn't give him this because of all I had heard in the media about scams. I told him I wanted to speak to his manager who happened to another Asian pretending an American accent and called himself Alexander Cross empno 19195. I was glad to read on this site that others were called and I was right that this was a scam.
