Was looking online one night (Feb 12th 2009) saw what looked like an interseting company. Since I was recently laid off , and was open to receiving Money from a grant I bit.
A nice picture of a family popped up "Hi I'm ?? and I live in Va Beach" I thought wow what are the chances of that happening ?? I of course was taken in, spent $3.95 for a CD about Grants.
Thought I was done, then 10 days later I see a charge for $74.95 on my C.C. account. I called the # on my bill, got a voice mail and then was disconnected.
I kept calling and finally was able to leave a message. Told them that I wanted to "cancel anything associated with their company, that I had not even received the promised CD (7 days) and I was contacting my bank.
I called my bank, told them the story and they said that I probably was "duped" into thinking that the only charge was the initial $3.95 . They said I probably checked a box stating that I understood something that I really didn't .
Anyway my bank (USAA) is superior and refunded all my money, and is checking out the company on my behalf. However, that same eveing (Feb 12th 2009) I was charged $24.95 from a company called "My Fitness" .The charge of course was unauthorized, the VERY strange thing was that the user name they say I used when I "signed up for their diet plan " was the same as the ORDER # for the $3.95 CD I had purchased (knowingly).
This was definately fraud, so I canceled my Credit Card (had it for 19 years..never a problem). USAA is investigating and I may never purchase anything on the internet again!!
Don't get ripped off ! Take it from me you can't get something for nothing in this world. Now more than ever people are ready,willing and able to take full advantage of unsuspecting individuals like you and me !!
