Lori Greenwood boarded my horse for nearly 9 months and I have personally witnessed her neglectful and abusive treatment of animals. On several occasions I saw Lori with one or two horses that came into her care for training. First, it was apparent that the horses that were to be trained were not being worked with regularly, in fact, they would frequently get 'crash course' training the week they were to be picked up. In the spring of 2007, she was in the round pen with two young horses, likely yearlings, that had just come in to be halter broke. When she became frustrated, she began swinging a halter and hitting the horses in the face repeatedly while screaming at them. Of course, they were confused and scared, and continued to run away from her.

On several occasions two separate people witnessed Lori lose her temper with my horse (who was 20 years old and not in for training, just boarding) who paws at his stall door when waiting for his feed. Lori can't stand horses who make noise in their stalls, and went up to his stall and screamed at him. When he began pawing again, she went into the stall screaming at him and with a lead rope, repeatedly whipped at him and hit him in the face several times. My horse is just like a big dog, and it broke my heart. This was told to me by two people not aware the other had told me a similar story.

Lori does not properly care for her barn cats, she does not spay or neuter them and the result is a pattern of litters of unwanted kittens who are interbred and sickly with respiratory problems. She allows the kittens to die, year after year.

Lori sores the Tennessee Walking Horses she trains and leaves them standing in there stalls all show season long. If they dare complain, paw or kick or make noise, she enters their stall and beats them for it. She is a cruel and abusive person who has limited self control.

Lori is a drinker and will often no show for lessons or appointments with people. I have personally witnessed that many times, as well.

Lori will also take your money for "animal communication" at the rate of $35 per session. She took my bag of shavings for my trailer, and underfeeds the horses to save money whenever nobody is there to watch what is fed.

I asked the Humane Officer about filing abuse charges, and was told that unless it is videoed or happens when they witness the abuse, it is heresay and therefore, one person's word against anothers.

Lori also bragged about her Great Danes being so hard to train that they have to beat them in the face to teach them, they are so dumb. She told a story of when she was first married and her husband came home and beat the dog until they were both bloody, mostly from his knuckles bleeding.

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but frankly, this person is not deserving of your trust, nor should she or her family care for ANY animals. She will take your money while 'screwing' you with a smile on her face.

BEWARE.

What a bunch of bunk

AUTHOR: Annette - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 05, 2009

I have known Lori for 10 or so years and trained under her. None of these allegations are true. I have seen no evidence of anything that she claims.

This person is a known barn hopper because she doesn't get along with others. Her reputation proceeds her and someday she is going to run out of boarding facilities that she is welcome at.

Lori Greenwood:Horse Whisperer NEVER an Abuser

AUTHOR: Jean Hill - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 05, 2009

My husband and I have known and trusted Lori with our horses for 14 years, and, as transplants from Wisconsin who now live in Tennessee, we are uniquely qualified to understand the definition of "a trainer who sores their horses", and Lori would NEVER EVER sore a horse. Lori's methods of training ARE unique, yes, that is true: she works with the horse's mind as well as its body. She understands the moods, fears, and instincts that drive a horse's behavior and communicates with the animal using natural movements and inflections that mimic equine language. She trains both the horse's muscles, but also its mind to relate to the commands of the rider. Training a horse, of course, means that the rider must be respected by the horse, but this is accomplished without abuse. As a result of working with Lori, and her approach to horse-and-human relationship training, our horses are loving, well trained, gentle animals who respect us and boldly carry us on rugged trail rides into the mountains and over streams. My gelding can side-pass, perform fore and hind quarter turns, 3 types of canters, and numerous tricks in the ring, and loves to "dance" to freestyle music and drill team activities. Lori is a gifted trainer! Any horse that is lucky enough to be placed with Lori will be understood, trained to its maximum capacity during the time that she has it, loved, honored, and given confidence. Any horse owner that places her trust in Lori will learn to communicate with his or her horse in new ways, and enjoy a deeper richer realtionship with that horse as a result. Whoever wrote this Ripoff Report must suffer from some other terrible pain in their life and some other unresolved issues, or some mental disorder or distress perhaps, but to suggest that Lori Greenwood is an unreliable drunkard who sore horses is just WRONG. Lori Greenwood is only kind, caring, responsible, dedicated, and gifted. She is highly professional and deeply committed to the welfare of the horse. She is a trainer who gets results through hard work, dedication to the animal, love, and communication. We are very grateful to her for all of her loving work with our animals, and so are they!

Bogus report!

AUTHOR: Kendel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 22, 2008

I use to work for Lori for about 7 years and I can say that all of this is complete crap. The main goal of Greenwood stables is to make sure the horse is safe for everyone, yes if the horse is being unruly she does discipline, but not to excess like this person claims, she does this because horses are too big too be badits like having a 1200 pound pit bull that has attacked people before, its just not safe. I'm not going to say Lori doesn't discipline because that would be a lie, but in NO way is it abuse. A good horse owner does discipline their horse every once in a while, it's like those kids that never get disciplined and everyone knows how they turn out, always in trouble! Again I get the inside scoop on everything because I use to work there. Lori takes pride in her training and works very hard to teach horses, and that simply cannot take a week crash course if this person knew anything about horses she would know it takes a hell of a lot longer then a week to train these horses, and that shows for the track record of her horses..many of them are champions, this can not be done in a week! As for the barn catsLori doesn't get them spayed and neutered, the only one that has not is a calico, and she has kittens every yearbut Lori makes sure they have loving homes each and every time. The cats enjoy kitten food everyday and on special occasions canned cat food. How dare someone accuse another of soring horses when obviously they do NOT know what they are talking about! Lori has been showing for many of years and every horse has to be checked by an official to make sure no soring has been going on and everyone has passed with flying colors because she does not do it.anyone who has some knowledge of this topic can see by just looking at her horses that nothing illegal has gone on. I really do not know why this person has wrote this because nothing of this claim is based on factsits all about hearsay. The only thing I can think of is that this person perhaps is jealous?? People like this are the ones that cause all the problems in this world, they base their stories off of gossip!

Untrue!

Kathy did board at my barn for a year. She has come out at 1 AM after drinking, drove her van into the indoor arena, just to play with her horse. I've had to talk to her on a couple of occasions about not coming to the barn after drinking or after 10:00 PM.

As far as soring a horse, I would never, have never, and am a big advocate against it. You can call any of the people who own horses we have trained and showed for many years! I've been training and showing for 30 yrs.

I have found Kathy taking hay and shavings and storing them in her horse trailer.
Yes, I have 3 cats: Mo is 12 years old and spayed; Calie is 9 years old, non-spayed, the daughter of Mo, and has had babies which all have gone to homes; the 3rd one is one of Calie's babies, and she is spayed.

Kathy is a barn jumper and has had problems at many different barns; I found that out to late!
Everyone is welcome to call any references. Also, I have some names of the other barns Kathy has been at for more references.

Previous Boarder & Student

POSTED: Sunday, December 21, 2008

As a previous boarder, I can only say that my horse thrived at Lori's stable...he came in underweight and in only a month's time, I saw weight back on him.
He was well cared for. I have continued my relationship with Lori regarding lessons and animal communication sessions. I have found her abilities fun, entertaining and a unique perspective into my horse's life.
This report is just mean-spirited and vindictive.

UNBELIEVABLE!

AUTHOR: Jean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 21, 2008

I have known Lori for 8 years. My 16 year old horse was broke and trained by Lori. When I purchased him through Lori from his previous owner, she made sure he was the perfect horse for me as a green rider. She was not wrong! Lori taught me to ride and I had training board at Greenwood Stables on and off over a 3 year period, being there consistently at one point for over a year and a half. I had lessons 2-3 times a week and Lori NEVER ONCE missed any of those lessons. I live an hour away from Greenwood Stables and wish I was closer so that I could still be part of the training facility on a more consistent basis.

I have the pleasure of owning two of Lori's barn kittens. Lori has always found good homes for them. They are healthy and are a joy to me. Their mother Mo is currently spayed. I once witnessed Lori caring for a litter of kittens in her living room that wouldn't have survived otherwise.

Lori absolutely does not sore horses! She is disgusted by this treatment and has always been adamantly outspoken against it!

Lori is a highly skilled, talented trainer who has an insight and instinct about horses that many people envy and admire. I still rely on Lori for advice about my horse and training. I would not trust my precious horse with anyone else. He is a dependable, reliable, respectful and responsive horse, thanks to Lori's care and training, and he is a favorite at my current boarding facility where children are able to safely and confidently ride him. Lori has given me the joy of knowing horses.

Thank you for everything Lori!

Friend, Boarder, Student

AUTHOR: Student/boarder/friend - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 20, 2008

I have been associated with the Greenwood's for 5 years, both as a student and a current boarder. I have been around horses and trainers for close to 40 years. I can say without a doubt, Lori is one of the most trustworthy and knowledgeable horse persons I have ever dealt with. Our horses have access to hay 24/7, good, clean water and the best of care. We are grateful and appreciative and trust Lori completely with our animals. She is also our friend and I find the level of the original posters attack cruel and disturbing. It is subjective garbage and slanderous. We do not treat our horses like big dogs, they are first and foremost horses and I expect them to have excellent ground manners and to be safe under saddle. Lori has given us confidence and a level of enjoyment that we have never known before. I cannot thank her enough. What I find abusive are the number of horse people who expect their horses to take care of their emotional needs and do not put their horses needs first. I have been with Lori in many different situations, shows, trail riding, lessons, socially and any different number of situations and have never witnessed any degree of what has been said originally. I do not know the motivation of this attack, nor do I wish to know. What I do know is that it is simply an opinion, albeit cruel and twisted. I place no validity to any portion of it.

Lori does not sore horses. Kathryn obviously does not know what soring is. Soring is an appalling and cruel method. Kathryn states... "Lori sores the Tennessee Walking Horses she trains" This totally untrue statement destroys Kathryn's creditability.

I have known Lori and the Greenwood stable for 12 years. Lori has trained and boarded my horses. I would be boarding there now if I lived in her area. All of my horses have been trained by Lori. My horses are well adjusted and trust worthy companions and the favorites in my current barn and anyone that has to handle them.

NOT TRUE.

AUTHOR: Ted Bailey - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 19, 2008

My wife & I have been using Lori Greenwood of Greenwood Stables as our trainer for our horses and for ourselves for over 10 years. Based on the many hours and visits we have spent at Greenwood Stables working with Lori, the information in this Rip-Off report is basically untrue, or exaggerated to the point of being totally unfair, smacking of some sort of personal vendetta.

"Lori is a drinker and will often no show for lessons.....". I know for a fact, that statement is absolutely untrue. I've lived with Alcoholism all my life, to the point I'm very informed and educated on the subject. Ain't no way I can spend that much time with someone, over a ten year span, and not tune in on a problem. In addition, never, ever, did Lori not be there when we arrived for training, a lesson or to drop off an animal. As far as I am concerned, the fact that that totally untrue statement exists in Kathryn's "Report" destroys any and all creditability to her many other statements and accusations.

We've seen and worked with other trainers over the years. Each has their own methods and techniques. Granted, not everyone will approve of each and every trainer's methods. Lori is no exception in this regard. I can tell you from firsthand experience, however, In the many hours spent at Greenwood Stables over the last 10 plus years, I have never see a horse be abused, neglected, or mis-treated in any way. By Lori or her Staff. I have seen horses be abused and mistreated by trainers, but I have never seen this happen at Greenwood Stables.

We Love our animals as much, and are as sensitive to their wellbeing as any horse owner. If we had any reason to believe or suspect that the kind of activity described in Kathryn's Rip Off report was going on at Lori's Barn, you can rest assured, I'd have been writing a Rip-Off Report. I don't know what Kathryn's reasons for throwing all that Anti-Lori verbage out on the internet might be, but I can tell you from my 10 years of up-close and personal professional relationship with Greenwood Stables, "It just Ain't So!"

Unfair and Not True!!!

AUTHOR: Beth - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 19, 2008

We have known Lori Greenwood for the past 11 years. She has trained our horses and we have boarded at her wonderful facility. We have Tennessee Walkers and Saddlebreds and went to Lori specifically because other trainers of these breeds can be abusive. We wanted horses that were trained correctly and would be able to be handled by the non-horse people in our family. We wanted horses that would be able to be shown as well as be ridden in our back yard by beginners. I got a lot more than I could have ever hoped. Our horses were gently trained, at times using the clicker method, were well taken care of and we were given lessons that helped us to be able to compete in both the state and national arenas. Our horse have be ridden on the neighborhood trails and have camped at the National parks. We also gained a wonderful friend who has been there when we won, had fun, and when we had sick horses that were in need. I was a new horse owner who had horses as a kid and wanted my family to be able to enjoy them as well. Lori helped us choose horses that fit well with both our novices and the experts. My horses have good manners, are respectful and are confident in their abilities. This makes them even easier to love and to take care of. We owe this all to Lori.

It is very sad that people feel the need to attack others on such a public forum without ever having the guts to voice their opinions to the owner of the establishmnent first. To have Lori's name appear like this when she puts in her name as a google search is just wrong and evil. I think that the owner should have been contacted by the Ripoff report when this was posted and given the chance to respond. I have to wonder if the Ripoff report did any research to find out that this report was untrue. This really is slander.
