Beware of timeshare sales from Grupo Mayan, Vidanta Golf, Grand Mayan, Grand Luxxe and Grand Bliss in Nuevo Vallarta Mexico. Grupo Mayan has a sales staff and ownership that outright lie about the timeshare features, benefits and course design especially as it relates to golf. After buying several weeks a year at the Grupo Mayan properties which included access to a great Jack Nicklaus designed 18 hole course it has been ripped up again and again and poorly hacked apart to fit in more hotel buildings packed with golfers getting up to 16 free rounds of golf per week to enitice time share property sales.

The back nine was torn up a few years ago and only 14 holes were open while new buildings sprouted up. When the course was finally redone they started tearing it up again adding terrible temporary greens in the fairways and ruining great holes to tear out sod to move grass into new locations. Over years of visits I rarely ever was able to play a fully functioning 18 hole course.

In the contract it clearly states that "The company agrees not to modify the vacation units that are the subject of this contract in any manner that significantly and adversaly affects its use by Member". Well, the only thing that I've seen happen to this Jack Nicklaus course over the last 9 years is significant adverse modification.

They do shot gun starts on both 1st and 10th holes and its common to have up to 4 foresomes waiting on a hole (yes that's 16 golfers) standing around waiting to tee off on one hole. The course management never tells you when greens and fairways are getting torn up, punched, scraped and there is always some kind of construcution ruining the golf layout. And trust me you'll never see a golf marshall doing anything of any consequence to move golfers along because there are simply too many people put out on the course at any one time.

Additionally, you are forced to pay extra for a fore caddy even though you have to take a cart. The morning tee time start process is a complete goat rodeo with people fighting over trying to get the starter to put them into the golf cart que. There is no place to hit balls in the morning near the 1st and 10th tees. Although there is a really nice pratice facility at the complete other end of the property but you cant get to it before you tee off in the morning so you cant warm up or even putt at all. In the late afternoon when it would be perfect to take out kids to learn they have no twlight or kids rate and they shut the course down early right when it's a great time to go out with kids to golf.

Jack Nicklaus would be embarrased if he saw how this course was truly getting butchered and how poorly managed the course and resort have besome. It gives Mexico and Nuevo Vallarta, a truly beautiful place with beautiful people, a really bad name because of deceitful mismanagement of this resort and golf course. It's nearly impossible to find someone there that can make a decision about a complaint or issue.  Vidanta Golf points fingers at the Grand Mayan, Grand Luxxe and vice versa. There is zero accountability in the whole place and the staff readily admit it's a complete rip off. I have talked to several of the top sales people and golf staff there about this and they all asked me to please make this feedback public. I know they all have to hear the complaints everyday but no one wants to talk about it publically for fear of retribution.

I was lied to about the new courses being developed, when they would be done and new features and the only thing that has happened is the one course gets worse, more people are stuffed onto it and the prices at the hotel go up. Now I'm hearing that when the new courses do get developed that it's supposedly under a new company so it's outside of existing contracts. That will be fun litigation to watch.

As for the hotels, trying to get a room you are promised in your contract during any peak period is a complete crap shoot. The staff in the hotel and the golf course have no accountability and point fingers in all directions and you feel completely violated after they've taken your check. It's too bad because it's actually a really beautiful place but it's so poorly managed and lying is part of the engrained culture that you feel like someone's hand is in your wallet the second you sign the contract. What used to be great about Mexico and golf there is history. You might as well stay in the states and go to Florida, Phoenix or Palm Springs.

Really a bummer. dont buy you will truly be sorry. And if you do buy -- bring a lawyer to review your contract.
Signed - A really sad Grupo Mayan contract owner

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront ... I found these articles that speak precisely about this, you should read them, that might help you to resolve many doubts:

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: SandraLaw - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, May 07, 2014

I just visited the Mayan Palace in Cancun and I regretted so much, at first I was happy because I thought I made a good mayan palace timeshare deal but I didn't, actually I was going to bring my friends from Miami next month for them to see the resort and I am very happy that I'm not going to do it. They told me that they can sell 2 of my weeks a year and I call them and is all lies they told me that I have to do that. I just can't believe I spent 7000.00 in nothing. Do not believe them, they do not care and if you ask them for time to finance with ur bank they say they can't and you won't be able to go back in five yrs. u have to do the deal in the same day and *** us we did it but I will make sure that other people won't make the same mistake than us.
