Bought a 2010 Hurricane Deck Boat with a 150HP Yamaha O/B in August, 2012.  During the test drive, the salesman, Joe, stated that all accessories indicated on the panel were present, inspected, and functional.  He further went on to discuss how thorough their inspection process is.  I asked for the history of the boat and did not get a direct answer.  I specifically asked how many hours were on the engine and was told they did not know or could not provide it and the topic was, like many others, placed aside.

When taking the boat out with the family for the first time, several minor problems were noticed, including non-working gauges, non-working livewell, non-working freshwater system.  I bring it back for the first of 3 returns with the boat to the dealer, all of which were minimum 3 weeks each time.  I come to learn, there is no freshwater tank even installed in the area.  Everything else for it (pump, hoses, clamps) were there, but no tank.  And no explanation.  Within a month of owning the boat, it was discovered that every seat had pink mold, which is non-transferable under warranty, and can only be cured with new upholstery or seating.  The third trip out almost yielded a crash as the throttle linkage was messed up, and reverse was lost. 

The company, during the sales process, knowingly lied.

In rectifying the problems, the company still charged service fees to us.  The service was slow.  I was told after the 3rd (and final) service, that they take the boat out for a test drive everytime prior to returning the boat to the customer.  Well, some of the issues were fixed, but now the speedometer and horn did not work.  Overall, poor service and attention to detail!

The company does not proactively return telephone calls.  It normally takes several days of persistence to reach a specific party and discuss details.

One last thing, back to the hours on the engine....took the boat to a reputable business and the engine log shows 1700 hours of use!!  Wonder if that knowledge would have affected the sales several thousands of dollars?

Our family used the boat exactly five times for approximately less than 2 hours of engine use over a three month span.

That is a general summary of my experience with GT Marine and there are more specific details that took place regarding poor customer service and business practices.  I accept full responsibility as an unaware and trusting first time boat buyer.  Lesson learned, I would not recommend anyone conduct business with GT Marine.
