My fiancé and I adopted a puppy from this shelter last month. We thought the fact that we had to attend an event at a tractor supply shop was a little weird but decided to look past it because the puppy seemed so perfect for our family. We drove two hours to get there after reserving a dog and putting down a deposit only to find that the dog we had reserved was sent home with another family earlier that day. They did hold us a puppy from the same litter so we took her home and love her all the same, but my initial concerns that they had let another family take the puppy WE put a deposit on were completely brushed off by staff. We were told both dogs were tested and good with cats and this is not the case at all. She has also very clearly never been taken outside before and is TERRIFIED of the outdoors. I’ve never seen anything like this before. The worst part? We took her to the vet to find that she had KENNEL COUGH AND WORMS when we took her home, even though the “rescue” told us that she’d seen their vet TWO DAYS before coming home with us and had a clean bill of health. We spent $425 on her and will now need to spend way beyond the typical amount of new puppy fees on training and vet costs. I love my dog and everything, but this place should be avoided AT ALL COSTS.

As stated in my original complaint that it seems the owner did not take the time to read, we were vocal about our concerns at the time of adoption. We willingly chose to take the puppy that was saved for us even though she was not the one we reserved because we were not about to give up on her simply because she looked different. We LOVE our dog and that would be ridiculous; but it doesn't make it any less ridiculous that the staff was incompetent enough to give away the one we'd put a deposit on without our consent.

Additionally, as first-time dog owners, we didn't know just how abnormal it was to see 15 or so dogs that were all incredibly lethargic and took staff's word for it when they stated that this was normal because the dogs were nervous. We now know better. After finding many other similar complaints online, it seems we weren't the only ones who decided to trust in this rescue and ended up with a sick dog as other families mentioned having puppies die only days after adopting from this "rescue".

We clearly did see our vet and upon doing so we were told that if she was dewormed, she simply would not have worms. And you failed to address the fact that she had an AWFUL case of kennel cough that was not brought to our attention either.

And yes, we are aware that rescue dogs have been exposed to things that you may not know about. It is expected when adopting a rescue. However, if you tell us you ARE aware that she's good with cats when she is not and don't mention the fact that she will not go outdoors, which you HAD to be aware of, that's when you're wrong. 

We have no reason to contact you directly as this is something that already happened and I don't expect you to try doing anything to make the situation better as you're already attempting to justify what happened rather than simply taking ownership. I am not looking to argue with you and listen to you tell me things that aren't true about the conditions that you keep your poor dogs in. The point of this complaint is simply to help others who may be looking to adopt so that they aren't left in the same situation as those who've had small puppies pass away after adopting from you. 

Like I said, we are fine seeking training and covering vet costs and will do whatever we have to do to keep our dog happy and healthy. I just sincerely wish you did the same for the dogs in your care. Perhaps you should consider a stricter process in vetting your fosters.

Explain the Rescue side

I would like to explain the Rescue side of the story,we are a 501c Not for Profit Foster base Rescue. We have events at places that host Animal Rescue. Otherwise they are in foster care.  Every donation we recieve goes to help these puppies and Dogs that sometimes cost more than an adoption fee.

This was not brought up to our attention at time of adoption. Why would you of adopted from us that day, and tell us everything was fine. If there was an issue and not contact us. We explained to you at adoption these puppy come from shelters and can be stressed and scared when going to a new envirment. As stated in the contract that your Fiancee signed it explains that they are coming from shelters and are exposed to things we are not aware of. We also have holding periods for these puppies before we adopt out. 

We tell you to go to your veterinarian with in a few days of adoption. so you can continue the deworming process that was started by us, and anything else your veterinarian office might recommend. There are several ways to contact us.

Please before you write a bad review and hurt the chances of an innocent animal finding a home, give us a chance to rectify the situation. We have not yet to recieve a phone call or email directly!
