Received a letter today claiming I won $46,500.00 out of $25,234,000.00, picked from 149,000 telephone numbers and utility bills. Stating my ticket emerged and won a lump sum payout. I needed to call to finalize the payment process.
Looked fishy when asked to keep the winning confidential to avoid multiple claims. What is that? Called the number and Mrs. Anita Myers explained to me to cash the check and that would be fees to cover the Lotto Regulatory Board. That amount would be deducted from my grand lump sum pay out!
Check was issued by a Dr. Cameron D. Godfrey in Wichita Falls, TX and when I looked him up, they had his old practice address, I am trying to contact him. I did try to call American National Bank as well, but they were already closed. I will call them tomorrow, though. The ABA# and the Bank information are correct. The check looks real. They must have purchased a program to issue checks at home and maybe ordered mail order checks or something, but the checks do look real.
I am going onto the Better Business Bureau to report them.
Hope no one gets scammed! Watch out!
