Hawaii Self Storage Steve, Levy, Robert After fulfilling the WRITTEN 30 day notice they require to vacate a unit and vacating it; they billed us for an additional month at 537 dollars. I was in the office to report we vacated ,as required. They called my husband in front of me to let him know. Even though he had sgned and delivered to them a WRITTEN 30 day notice to vacate as they require. A week later they called my husband to get his credit card number to bill him for an extra month. . We only oowed those crooks for the term of the 30 day WRITTEN AND SIGNED notice to vacate on Sept. 12. That was bad enough because the unit was empty. Then Levy shyster told my husband he would change it so we were only billed an additional week beyond the agreed, WRITTEN AND SIGNED 30 day vacate delivered to them by my husband. They are expensive at $537 a month so this equates to them rooking people of hundreds of dollars with this deceptive business practice. The 30 day written notice hung it up enough. Now they claim they are owed another week for nothing. Honolulu Hawaii

Hawaii Self Storage in Kaimuki, Hawaii requires a 30 day written notice signed by the singular renter to be submitted to get out of their billing clutches.  They have a policy of only listing one person on the unit even tough the family is using it.  That one person has to submit the written and signed 30 day notice of vacate before you can leave without being billed. My husband submitted the 30 day written and signed notice to vacate by Sept 12.  My son and I emptied unit 2244 on Sept. 10 and reported to the office on site and told "Robert" we were vacated as scheduled. We were happy to move out, as the small unit cost $537 per month.  Robert called my husband in front of me to let him know we had vacated the unit. My husband was at work and his cell phone picked up the message from Robert.

Exactly one week later "Levy" called from Hawaii Self Storage to tell my husband that he owed another month on the unit because he didn't call them back to acknowledge he moved out.  They are insane crooks.  My husband was confused at first and thought we had left things in the unit. But it was some obscure policy that the family member (myself) with the Hawaii Drivers' license of the same address and last name as my husbands' (which they held every time I borrowed a cart to move items to the car); was not enough. And the WRITTEN AND SIGNED 30 day notice of vacate my husband submitged to them wasn't enough either. If that is so, why didn't they call him or tell him in the message they left on his phone?  He thought they were giving him a courtesy call. So then Hawaii Self Storage employee Levy said he may get it reduced to an extra week of billing instead of the whole month. Like this was planned all along to make it like he was doing you a favor to take $150 for nothing...What a total scam!!!!They should reimburse us for any money paid beyond the 30 day vacate date of Sept 12.

By the way, they announced the office closed for sept 12 while they had a party. Found out from signs posted in the elevator. So it's a good thing we checked out Sept 10. What a bunch of crooks! I bet there's a lot of people they caught in this money trap.

They also have homeless people using their "clean" bathroom facilities.  And I was approached by some druggie on the 2nd floor in the "secure" building during day hours.  When I reported this to the office, they said that each unit has an alarm so the units are secure. Nice.
