TALKED INTO BUYING THIS JUNK. HERE'S THE PITCH. "SIR, BY JOINING THE CREDIT UNION, YOU CAN GET GROUP HEALTH BENEFITS" YES, VERY VERY LIMITED BENEFITS. FOR $300 PER MONTH, YOU GET NOTHING. WORTH ABOUT $25 A MONTH FOR WHAT YOU GET.

THEY PAY $30 A DAY IN HOSPITAL!! WHAT GOOD IS THAT? ONE PLAN PAYS $500 A DAY IN THE HOSPITAL, WHAT GOOD IS THAT?? AT $3000 A DAY, I'M GOING TO PAY THE REMAINING $2500.

FOLKS DON'T BUY THIS CRAP.
IF YOU DID, CANCEL IT IMMEDIATELY.

Sir,

 If your company is out to please the customers, then why after i called and left messages and emailed agents to cance a plan that didn't even start yet, DID your company take money from my bank account on my card that had expired, I have called and left messages to cancel,, emailed your company and agent and cancellee. then the next day i go into my bank account and see you took out $85 on my exprired card. Because the agent even said to me when we were on the phone when i was going to take the plan.. WELL YOUR CARD IS EXPIRED..  i said yes and i have my new  one at home, then she stated she will call me back to get the updated one. and i never talked or gave it to her..  After looking everything over i decided i did not want the plan. YOu don't give your cumtomers a chance to look at things. you only tell them stuff over the phone.  I called to cancel and you already had taking my money the day after i cancelled. NOW they are saying 7-10 days for a refund.. IR DOES NOT TAKE THAT LONG FOR A REFUND.. I  have had refunds before.. Still now 4 days later i'm still waiting. I'm not like you who has money to throw around. I live pay check to pay check and even sometimes that is hard, but you  and your company have no problems takiing money from people like me and not giving it back.

  I want my money back or i will be turning you in to the BBB and insurance for fraud.  My bank will also step in, which i have already talked to them too. $85 might not be much to you.. BUt its alot to me..  I need my refund. you had no right to take that money on my expired card no less..

IF you don't offer this plan to anyone with Major medical insurance then i'm confused. Beause when i was offered Medical insurance. With Prioty Health because its the law now to HAVE MEDICAL insurance. i was given this company also with Priority health and a Medication plan, i was even given paper work with your company welcoming me to the plan. Which i didsign but lucky my bank card is ezpired because i'm sorry after reading all this. I"m not so sure i want to go through with your company although i have a week before i need to be signed  up. Im glad my card is expred even though i did give her my account i'm glad its expired unless you can explain this alttle more to me.

Best Health Insurance I've Found

I have learned NEVER to believe ALL you read on the net.....However, after having Blue Cross/Blue Shield at over $400/month individually, I found out about HCCUA on TV. I called and talked extensively with their representatives, who I might add were very cordial and helpful. I signed on the the $159/month plan and the ONLY downside I've found is that they only offer 15% off brand name meds. Fortunately, all my meds come in generic form, so I'm happy. I have no co-pay when I go to the doctor who is in the plan. They have very reputable docs in my metropolitan and surburban areas in the plan. All the hospitals, urgent cares, etc. in my area are in the plan, and I'm happy with the plan benefits.

Excellent Service

I have used HCCUA for almost a year. They have always paid my doctor's bills on time and have paid prescription coverage as well. I have never had any problem with them at all. The service has been excellent.

The HCCUA plans are Defined Benfit plans, not Major Medical and not intended to replace Major Medical coverage. They are specifically designed for people who are having difficulty affording a Major Medical policy now but still want some kind of coverage. For them, the availability of such a program is a blessing.

The coverage is explained clearly in the Member's Handbook and any person enrolling has 15 days to review the plan before cancelling for a full refund, should they desire that.

We get approximately 1100 calls each day in the Member Services Dept from satisfied Members who are happy with the plan and calling for assistance in using their coverage. It IS insurance.

I worked paying insurance claims for many years and now work on the other side as a biller.
I was shocked to read about HCCUA and how it conducts business.
While it is great that each of you has reported on this web site, I do not think it is enough.
I suggest that each person who has a problem with them contact their State Insurance Commisioner and the State Attorney General.
You have to fight back and report this fraud to recover your money.
Your states Attorney General may also issue a cease and disist order to the company preventing them from doing business in your state.
The owners of this company could face severe fines and jail time if they are found to be guilty of fraud.

These types of plans are ripoffs. They aren't health insurance.

They have all the major carriers in Florida.

Health Care Credit Union Association has bilked me illegally for about $2,000. You fraudulently represented yourself as something you definately are not. Please explain to me how if I contact by bank when you illegally remove funds from my account. Please explain to me after you have been delivered the affidavits of forgery the bank forwards to this company, why, the next month, this company uses a different bank routing number and again removes money from our account. Talking with this company only affords you the priveledge of getting harrassing phone calls as to why you didnt cancel in the first 18 days, of course you receive no information for over 2 months thus making it too late to take any action. I also was made aware by our bank that again the company attempted through yet another routing number attempted to remove more funds again. Our bank has contacted the Minnesota Attorney General and the Minnesota Insurance Commission with regars to this company. If this company were indeed a reputable one, would not the sensible logical individual approach this matter in an atempt to resolve this? I would answer yes to this, but what you do get is more attempts to defruad monies.

I am the Executive Director of the Health Care Credit Union (HCCUA), the Association that provides the insurance program in question. I am increasingly concerned about the ability of individuals to post false, irresponsible, and arguably libelous information on a site like this with no accountability for its accuracy. Let me set the record straight.

The Health Care Credit Union (HHCUA) exists to provide an array of benefits to its members, among which are limited benefit health insurance programs. Benefit offerings like ours are becoming more and more prevalent as traditional major medical insurance has become increasingly expensive and harder to qualify for, if one has any significant health issues. It is well known that approximately 48 million Americans are uninsured, and the number is rising. This situation is now being considered by most Americans as a healthcare crisis in our country.

The goal of HCCUA is to provide our members with an affordable health insurance option, if they cannot afford or cannot qualify for major medical insurance. If someone has major medical coverage, we do not and will not enroll them in this plan as a replacement for that coverage. However, someone who does not have major medical coverage can benefit greatly from our plans, because often the alternative is to be without any coverage at all, both for themselves and their families.

The HCCUA insurance programs are underwritten by very reputable and highly rated carriers. Our products are licensed and approved with the respective departments of insurance in every state where we offer them, and every person who enrolls members is a licensed health insurance agent.

All of our current plans offer first day coverage for hospital confinement from $200 to $1,200. The plan which had a $30 daily hospital confinement benefit is one we no longer offer, but even so, that program was never sold on the basis of that particular benefit. The program also offered:
$2500 first day benefit for hospitalization
$3000 surgical benefit
$750 anesthesia benefit for a covered surgery
$5000 Accidental Injury benefit
$10,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit
$15 co-pay for most generic prescription drugs
$75 payment for physician office visits up to 5 times per year
access to one of the largest PPO networks in the nation, which on average means a 35% to 45% savings in the cost of procedures

Of course, this was not mentioned by the individual who had such negative things to say about the program!

We constantly strive to improve our offerings and now have benefit plans with higher benefit levels than before. While these limited benefit plans do not fit the needs of everyone, for many they are a true blessing. We regret that this individual cannot see this. I you say this is a ripoff could you explain yourself? I just went to the website and looked at the plans and they are fully explainable of what they cover and how much they cover. I am concerned, if you say they rip you off, HOW? do they not pay for what they say they will pay? what? glenda in Mississippi
