 HDK LAWNS & MORE did a sloppy, unprofessional and incomplete installation of a small back yard irrigation system,did not repair our existing front yard sprinklers and no way to water the rye grass winter lawn also done by HDK LAWNS & MORE. I had to have all of HDK'S work redone costing several hundred $$$.

 JamesKahn of HDK indeed did sloppy, unprofessional work and left the project uncompleted & non working. The two other workers on the job appeared to be untrained with little to no experience. HDK LAWNS & MORE of Mesa, Az. not only did not complete the work, but the little work that was completed had to be redone at an additional expense to me. Ask James Kahn (HDK LAWNS & MORE) for their license number with the Registrar of Contractors and always check their record with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) I would never hire this cowboy outfit again as I had to have all their work redone! Beware of having HDK LAWNS & James Kahn do your landscape work, it cost me alot of extra $$$ to complete & re-do the sloppy, unprofessional work done by HDK LAWNS & MORE!!

Thank you Chuck for the report.  We at HDK Lawns are sorry that you feel the way you do.  However I would like to make several points clear.  IT IS our companies policy to have a 50 percent deposit and upon completion and customer satisfaction the customer pays the remaining portion of the contract.  I can upload or provide 100's of contracts to any potential customer that shows this.  

As for this particular case.  The customer requested a single drip line installed in the back yard and quarter minus.  Which we provided all materials and labor and did such.  The front yard as per contract was to be cleaned up and sprinkler system working.  HDK Lawns did both of these.  We replaced all the sprinklers and timer for the front yard and ran multiple test.  We also showed the customer that the system was operational.

The issues arises after the customer had called us back 5 times stating that the system would not work correctly or run.  Each time we went out there we inspected and tested the system we found that each time the timer had been adjusted and tampered with.  Each time after conversation with this customer he advised that his wife had been messing with the timer to run it manual.

The sixth time that he called for the same issue we advised him that if we get out there and the system had been messed with that there would be a 35 dollar trip charge. He informed us over the phone and said that it was working the day before and that his wife again was running the system manually.  We advised him that we would come out there and set it again but it would classify as a 35 dollar trip fee.

The customer proceeded to scream and cuss at us and hang up on us.  5 days later he text and told us that we did a horrible job and that he hired someone to fix everything.  As I stated we do not collect final payment until the job is complete and the customer sees everything on their contract to their liking.  So I ask how did we do a sloppy, unprofessional and incomplete installation?  He further states that the sprinklers never worked for the front yet again we showed him that the worked in his own admission he and his wife were messing with the manual setting on the timer.

We at HDK Lawns strive to make every customer happy unfortunately sometimes there are customers that can never be made happy.  We were more than willing to return a 6th time however to stop a problem with customer tampering of the timer we advised there would be a 35 dollar trip fee.  

As a customer or business owner I do not think that this is too much to request.  We inform all our new and existing customers that all our timers commercial or residential are set the same and do not touch them.  This allows us as the landscaper to be 100 percent responsible for what the yard looks like and should there be dead or lack luster plants on the property due to watering it would be our duty to fix and replace.  I think any customer would find this a wonderful aspect of lawn service.
