Rental car companies provide your credit card information to third party companies who collect toll on behalf of toll systems that don't offer unregistered users any options for payment. This is a scam and it's probably criminal since they're charging your card without prior authorization!

Actually, if you would bother to read your rental agreement, you would see this is not illegal, and is an optional service. However, if you were to go through a toll without paying, either by mistake, or at fault of a machine not recording your money correctly, you would be hit with a fine AND the toll.

It's not a scam, so next time, try reading stuff before you sign it.
