Home Depot rebate card problems and possible scam ripoff Fenton Michigan

I have had the same problems with my rebate. I bought a John Deere tractor and bagger totaling over $2000 which is supposed to qualify for a $200 gift card. John Deere tractors are the same price no matter what store, so the gift card was the deciding factor.

After a few weeks, I get the e-mail stating that the purchase didn't qualify and/or the receipt was not received. Knowing that the purchase must qualify, I faxed the receipt to the number shown. Again, same reply.

I went to my local home depot and a very helpful customer service person called and talked to someone at the rebate center. They said they didn't know why this was being denied. She faxed the info for me and followed up to make sure they received it.

A few weeks later I received my gift card... for $75 dollars and not $200. I called the number and was told my $1799 purchase didn't qualify. I was getting upset at this point and asked her "how does the bagger qualify and not the tractor that it goes with??". She agreed that it didn't make sense and checked the SKU number. Sure enough, the rebate center incorrectly entered my SKU number. Imagine that!

I have to give credit to Lisette (ID# 9414) as she remained calm and professional even though I was getting angry. They added a special promotion for the difference and that I should get another card in a couple weeks. Hopefully this ordeal is over.

I certainly hope that some lawyer is looking into a class action lawsuit since there is no way all these "problems" are a coincidence. I'm sure home depot didn't expect all these rebate submissions to come in and are doing everything they can to discourage people from following through. I hate to be that cynical, but all the companies that use rebates have made me that way.
