We bought a new toilet from Home Depot - Lakeland, Florida. We paid Home Depot extra to have the new toilet installed and extra to have the old toilet removed.

After the man hired by Home Depot had installed the new toilet, when he was taking the old toilet out of the home, he hit the door on the florida room (which is our access outside) - knocked it completely off the hinges, the screws popped out and the door was on the ground. The repair man for Home Depot did not tell us the door had been completely broken and laid on the ground - he just drove off.

I contacted Home Depot right away - nothing has been done by Home Depot. The manager of the store where we bought the toilet is Chris Fuller.

Mr. Fuller has not contacted us - my husband is disabled - we are on a very limited budget. We cannot afford a new florida room door. My husband has wired the door to the hardware on the steps leading into the home. To go in and out of the door, to the outside, my husband has to take the wires off the door.

This is a very dangerous situation - if there were a fire in the home or we needed to leave the home in a hurry, I cannot undo the wiring for the door - it would take my husband a few minutes to unwire the door. The door is our only access to the outside.

I feel that Home Depot should provide us with a new florida room door - they should also provide free installation on the door. And this should be done now - we have waited long enough.

The door was damaged in December, 2007 - nothing has been done by Home Depot - we feel that nothing will ever be done.

Contractor is to blame

AUTHOR: Christopher - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 25, 2008

I am sorry for your inconvenience in this matter. I must explain that the contractors hired through The Home Depot are independant contractors with their own private businesses as well as the extra jobs they get through The Home Depot. This being said find the name of the Contractor (it should be on your install order) and contact this person personally. His private business is the one you should try to recoup your damages from not The Home Depot. You can always go to www.homedepot.com and contact the corporate offices to file a formal complain against the contract company as well if you like. Good luck and I am sorry about your inconvenience.
