My wife and I decided to give HMS a call to see what they could do for us. We met with one of their representatives and he sent us across the hall to a loan officer who ran our credit scores, explained some about the process and sent us back to the representative. The representative told us that they could get us into a house within the next year for a small fee based on our credit scores. We asked what kind of grantee or refund there was for this program and he told us that we would receive a full refund if they could not get us in a house within the next 12 months.

We decided to go home and think about our options. After about a week we decided to try out the program.  We paid the money and began doing everything they said. They told us to get two secured cards and keep the balance low. They told us to send them everything that comes to our house related to credit. We did all of these things.  Eight months into the process they call us to let us know that our credit scores are up and we can start looking for a house. They send a real estate agent out to help us look and we end up finding a house in about three weeks.

We start the process of getting all the documents together for the loan officer. After sending all the information to the load officer we receive a few calls from her stating she cant find the documents and that she needs more information and list the items we have already sent. We end up sending the same items three times to the same person. She then sends us over to someone who will be preparing the documents for the underwriter. She asks for almost all of the same information and states the loan officer did not give it to her.

So being proactive we sent all the same information we sent to the loan officer to this representative. She called us screaming about how much extra work she would need to do now that we sent her the entire list of items and at the end of the call hung up on me while I was trying to explain why I sent more than she had asked.  Finally after the all the documents make it to the underwriter they tell us they cannot give us the loan because of the disputes on our credit. These were disputes that HMS did in their credit repair process.

When my wife calls the loan officer to ask her about it she tells my wife Maybe you just jumped the gun on getting a house. So my thinking is we jumped the gun? They called us and told us to start looking and sent their agent to us. This was all after we had paid them their money, paid for the home inspection, and paid the earnest money to the title company. So far we are out all of the money we paid and have no house. I would strongly suggest staying away from HMS or at the very least being very cautious.
