I will keep this simple since there are many similar stories. It all started with HomeQ purchasing our loan. We got into some financial difficulties for a while and were late with a payment or 2, but we caught up, or so we thought. It turns out HomeQ put our payments towards fees.

Long story short we were forced by to go into a forbearance agreement to get caught up with the promise that we would not be reported late. A total lie, but we finished it successfully and early, or so we thought. The day we finished our interest rate went up to 9.75% making out payment $3720! naturally that caused some problems.

We were desperately trying to refinance but they ruined our credit so there was and is no chance of that. We had one small glimmer of hope, we needed a letter stating that we had successfully finished the plan, so we asked them for one. They not only refused, but they said we did not finish the plan, because we finished early! All records of that conversation have vanished in their system and they tried to get us into another plan; keep and mind the payment would now be somewhere north of $4500 a month for several months.

We have put the house on the market, but we know we will not get what we need because of the housing slump. We have engaged an attorney because it seems like HomeQ did break the law, but it will take months to repair our credit. We have resigned ourselves to losing our home.
The "customer service" people are rude, nosy, mean, and have no interest in the customer. enough said, they are evil.

It is so funny to me when I see reports that say "they ruined my credit and I was 2 months behind" Come on people, you can't pay when you want and have your credit reamin perfect. Start paying on time and you won't have to worry about it. Just out of curiosity, what caused your financial trouble and how many other bills did you pay before your mortgage? Let's pay the most important debt we have last, that way we can keep our credit cards, and cable TV, and the payments on the new boat up! Heaven forbid we don't have a boat to take to the lake on the weekend.

Everyone, cut your expenses, work 2 jobs if need be, and start reading stuff before you sign it. When things get rough why does everyone expect people to work with them? Bottom line you owe that money if you couldn't afford it, then why did you buy it?

ANYONE THAT IS GETTING READY TO BUY A HOME, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AT LEAST ONE YEAR OF YOUR MORTGAGE PUT BACK IN A SAVINGS ACCOUNT. I BET THIS PERSON WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE SOME MONEY PUT BACK DURRING HIS "FINACIAL TROUBLE"
