Tommy Coddington managing owner of Honeybee Helpers, Lic#13VH05074900, quit the job and broke contract
Tommy Left my house in disrepair & w/ garbage strewn around property: wood with nails pointing up, other wood and paint chips, and a utility razor blade in the grass where my dog runs around.
Tommy barely started the job in question. We contracted for a platform in my basement, Roof work to include falshing, Repair and fix rotten wood in garage around door and window, and on house window. To paint and prep my house and garage including powerwashing and scraping.
His worker spent a Total of 9 hours, he scraped and powerwashed the house(not garage), and took lightweight vinyl shutters off of 6 windows started work for a paint job and he (Tommy)replaced a few pieces of rotted wood around 3 windows.(not the whole frames, not all replaced wood was new,)Spent 1.5 hours. He refunded $1538.00, of my $2438 deposit. He kept $900.00 he said was for his 2 days of work and supplies.(A few feet of lumber Some of it was used , and a couple of ounces of paint for sample colors.)
The $900.00 he kept was excessive compensation considered he broke the contract and didn't get much work done. He did not finish prep of house and garage, He never powerwashed or scraped my garage, He didn't paint, or build platform, or finish covering window wood, or caulk or repair flashing.
He told me if I was unhappy with the refund I should take him to court.
All of the prepwork has to be redone. This was told to me by 2 other painters.

Honeybee Helpers Satisfied Customer
AUTHOR: Bb Dave - (U.S.A.)

I have hired Honeybee Helpers for multiple projects - some small, some large. The smaller projects (replace/repair/paint rotted wood steps under bilco basement doors, repair/paint lamp posts and railings) went off without a hitch. These were one day or less projects and were done timely and professionally.
The larger jobs I had done included painting my entire house including shutters, garage door, and front porch floor; the other large job was a complete overhaul of an attached screened-in porch including installing a brand new roof (convert fiberglass to shingles), replace multiple sections of rotted wood, replace all screens, and a install a new storm door. Both projects took much longer than anticipated solely due to weather problems - it seemed to rain at least 3-4 days per week from the time I signed the contract! Tommy continuously kept me informed as to his progress and the reasons for the delays. Once the weather finally cleared up everything was completed quickly thereafter. I have since received numerous compliments on the house and the porch.
As a follow up, I even asked an extended family member (a contractor from out of town) his opinion on the work and was told everything appeared to have been done well.
I provided the original poster with a reference for Honeybee so I, too, felt compelled to respond here. It is very unsettling to me that someone would post things like this without realizing the potential damage they are doing to someone's reputation. Hopefully this response will help offset some of this undeserved damage.

On the contrary many residents pleased with the work performed

My name is Margaret Kelly-Lyons. I am also a resident of Bound Brook NJ. Ironically I recommended Honeybee Helpers to the woman who started this report. I have repeatedly referred Tom Coddington and his team to do work for friends and family and will absolutely continue to do so. Considering her returned her money immediately says something about Tom's character and how he runs his business. Sometimes you have customers who are just never happy no matter what you do. Some people also like to work the system and get over on others or try to renegotiate after a contract has been signed. I know for a fact as it is public record that our Police had to be called, by Mr. Coddington, as he did not want this to result in an escalation or altercation of any kind.
As for the amount of money he kept - I am sure supplies had to be bought in advance as the contract was signed and work was scheduled to be performed. If the complaint is taken to court then so be it - better in a court of law then here on the net slamming someones character before all the facts have been presented to a judge.
So to go back to the title I gave my response - I know many who are very satisfied with Tom and his work. Feel free to contact me directly for a reference!
