I was contacted by a Bob Earl, and got the same spiel.  About starting a home buisness.  It sounded real for a change, real products, no on-line referals, etc. and then came the need money to start a buisness.  For only $3445, but we'll defer the $1000.  Warning!, Warning! Will Robinson!  Got the name of Rich Paterson, the Closer.  Fortunately I checked with Rip-off report, and found what I needed.  What is telling, was the fact that Bob sent me to a web site, supposedly from one of their retailers, which in fact is USA Supreame Technology.  When I balked at the sticker shock, they offered to lower the inital and repay the rest when I made some money.  But it was still more than I told them I could do right now.  They guananteed that I'd earn at least 3 times as much in 90 days!  If that were the case, why do they need that much money up front?  So slick.
