Concerning hotel emergency cancelations.

Hotwire would not allow us to cancel reservations even though we called 24 hours in advance and let them know that we could not make it to the hotel.

What was the deadline to cancel your room with the hotel? Each hotel has it's own deadline. Depending on the Hotel they may require more than 24 hours notice.

What type of rate was it? If it is a pre-paid, those are generally cheaper than the regular rate. But as a result they are also non-refundable.
