In my opinion- Houles Taxidermy is a ripoff!
Laurier Houle is a "silver tongued devil"- tells you what you want to hear, but does not perform! I got fooled by his good prices, "money back satisfaction guarantee", free shipping from him... My first clue should have been that he didn't have any references!
1. Myself and three other friends contracted for Houle to do our Africa trophy taxidermy on several animals- shipped to him in 2001. Promised to be completed in 1 year. Several years go by, and he never fully completed "any" of my friends taxidermy!
He only completed mine in 2004, after I finally agreed to pay all shipping, and a $1000 completetion bonus. He also raised the email "agreed" taxidermy rates, and overcharged on shipping (apperared to be fraud!)!!!
The quality of work was "AWFUL"!
2. By the time Ipaid his "grossly" inflated Canada shipping (charged USD on Canada rates+++!), and Customs broker fees... I lost money! Bottom line- I could have done it cheaper in USA, and not waited THREE YEARS!
3. My other friends got tired of waiting! 2 of them requested him to return their unfinished trophies. Not only did he not refund their 50% deposit- he charged inflated S&H, and took his sweet time to finally do the shipping!
The third friend is still waiting- "4 YEARS NOW"!!

1. I Not get free shipping, but was charged USD rates instead of lower Canada rates (tried to cover true rates with tape (edges showed)). He would not ship until my check cleared. His web page touted free shipping, but was later altered.
2. I had to pay more than was contracted for some taxidermy, before he would ship.
3. In response to my rip off report, he emailed me that he'd "Like to pay me a visit"!?
4. He has Not shipped completed taxidermy, to my hunting friends in CA (12 years)!

This complaint is completely uncalled for but not unexpected. Scott Sutherlund or known in this complaint as Kalispell Montana, using the name of the city and State he resides in. He and his friends had the pleasure of teaming togther to bully me and backmail me to give them free taxidermy work and free shipping.
When Scott Sutherlund's unrealistic demands are not met he backlashes with rebellious behaviour and punishes you. This man has no conscience and he will intimidate you for his gain. As many other fellow Taxidermist and Outfitters can attest to.
