Household Finance Visa delays crediting your payments in order to charge their excessive late fees.

They also will switch where your payment is to be sent, (usually to the farthest office from your home) to create more delays.

Another sleazy trick they used on me was to switch my account, without my knowledge or approval, to their "Platinum" account which eliminated my grace period. All of a sudden I was getting late fees for 1 or 2 days late even though I had a $0 balance and had sent the payment in plenty of time. Now every month I get a late fee, on a late fee, on a late fee...

They of course will not fix it, or admit they Illegally changed my account, nor submit to me any evidence that the payments were late as I have requested, nor did they cancel my account as I requested over the phone, on my bill, and on my check.

I have a Household Bank Mastercard and it is very good to know that I'm not the only one that thinks how they handle things is kind of fishy. I've been trying to figure this out for a while and now that I know what's going on, I will most definantly be getting rid of this account. They have not done half the things to me that were reported above but I will be getting rid of this as soon as possible.

Household Rip Off ..keeps charging after the account was closed!

1. I have been abused by Household to the point that I can not pay them. I was in financial hardtimes but tried to send them a partial. They still charged me a late fee and more interest. I have told them the DIY and Bldrs stores were out of business and the accounts were closed. They kept adding up interest, latefees.They said I had to send my payment 10 days ahead of time. Gee it sure is funny that it takes 2-3 days to receive their bills but it takes 10 days for them to find a payment?

I EVEN ASKED THEM IF THEY WOULD COMBINE THE TWO ACCOUNTS INTO ONE. THEY SAID NO NEGOTIATION. ALL OF THESE REQUESTS WERE MADE PRIOR TO MY BEING TURNED OVER TO COLLECTION. I tried to suggest programs and they didn't want to negotiate. Now I am in collection and they have ruined my life.ALSO, IF I HAVE BEEN TURNED OVER FOR COLLECTION, HOW CAN THEY KEEP ADDING INTEREST, LATE FEES ETC?

2. My finance's Orchard Bank was sold to Household. Prior to Orchard selling his account to Household, he cut up the card and said to Orchard Bank, close my account and I can afford to pay you the $280 I charged. Now Household has him up to $800 and they said that $600 would solve the problem.He didn't even charge but $280 on the card with Orchard.
Also it takes about two days to receive their bill, and again, 10-15 days for them to record a payment.

3. My sister's name got on a Household card and she never signed anything. They are holding her responsible for the bill plus late fees plus interest. She never signed her name and the card was closed. They still call her, harass her and keep charging interest and late fees. This has tremendously affected her excellent credit rating.

WHERE DOES HOUSEHOLD GET THE RIGHT TO CONTINUALLY CHARGE HIGH INTEREST, NOT NEGOTIATE, CHARGE AFTER AN ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED BY THE STORE OR BY THE CONSUMER? WHAT HOUSEHOLD FINANCE HAS DONE TO PEOPLE IS WHAT PROBABLY CONTRIBUTES TO PEOPLE FILING BANKRUPTCY. WE ARE ALL FILING COMPLAINTS WITH THE FEDERAL GOVT. IF YOU CAN HELP US, WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY TIPS.
