Howard Harrison Paving now apparently known H&H Paving - professional scam artist, liar and cheat. Millersville, Maryland

This man, Howard Harrison (junior i assume) is a complete loser, liar, cheat and con artist.  His company did my neighbors driveway and it seemed to go pretty well so I hired him to do mine.  He initially gave me a price of $8,000.00 to take out the old asphalt and repave my driveway, but a few sentences later said he could do it for $6,000.00.  I asked him to send me a proposal and he said ok and left.  2 days later, he called me and said a nearby job just got cancelled and he had all his equipment in my area and that he would do the job for $3,400.00 if he could pick up a deposit that night and start the next day.  (stupid me - red flag #1 coming down $4,600.00 in 48 hours).  I gave him the deposit and they did the work the next day.  The job looked reasonable (not wonderful) but at that low price I was, for the most part; satisfied.  The driveway had some streaks in it but he promised that when they returned in the spring to apply the sealer (which now I know was a complete lie) all the streaks would be gone and my driveway would "shine like the windshield on my car"  to use his exact words. 

Fast forward 2 weeks.  I took my trash can down to the curb one night and felt my foot sink into the driveway.  Turns out a portion of the asphalt where they widened a landscaping bed was completely mushy and loose even under the slightest foot traffic weight.  I called Howard and he said he would take care of it. 

A few days later I came home to see that someone had come there, thrown two or three shovels full of asphalt in the middle of the failing area, tamped it down and left.  Needless to say, I could lift the "repaired" area up with two fingers.

After multiple unanswered phone calls and numerous unretured messages I finally got him on the phone and he met me to walk the job.  He said they would come between Christmas and New Years Day to saw cut the bad area, redo it and apply the sealer now instead of Spring so it would make everything bond more tightly.  That was the last time I ever saw Howard Harrison and/or any representative of his so called "company".

More dead phone calls, more unreturned messages and finally he calls me back with a promise of a new date of Friday 1/13/12.  Needless to say he was a no call / no show on that date as well.

More calls, messages and finally a certified letter outlining my intent to sue him and he finally called and said he would be there Tuesday 1/24.  Come Tuesday 1/24, he called and said there is a problem with the asphalt plant and asked if they to do it the next day, Wednesday 1/25, ...(sigh)...ok, whatever-->  Wednesday it is.  Come Wednesday 1/25 ...no call/no show/no asphalt/no working cell phone / No nothing.

I'm done with this jerk.  I've already contacted another contractor that I know is a REAL contractor to repair my driveway and I'm going to file suit for damages against Howard in small claims court.

I really hope someone or some group of people (I'd be willing to help out in any way) can put a stop to this shameful and totally corrupt man and his illegitimate business.
