My cousin had a wedding on a Friday night at the Howard Johnson in Green Bay. She had a few problems with planning and getting the right colored napkins and such. But the big problem came when an employee of the hotel decided to come to the reception uninvited.

He started drinking and when our family noticed him we asked him to leave. Somehow he ended up assulting members of my family. So when the mother of the groom attempted to get help from the manager the front desk would barely make an effort to reach him. When he did finally arrive, we heard him tell the employee, "Dont worry, we will take you to the second floor" So, he is allowed to stay? not in trouble? Not told to just go home?

What type of employee gets to go to a room in hotel to hide because he is not welcome in a wedding party, assaults hotel guests and tried to start fights with everyone around him? The manager also refused to let the mother of the groom use a hotel phone to call the police.

In the course of the night this employee came back and attempted bodily harm to my cousin (the groom) and his father for not allowing him to drink at our wedding reception. After this assualt on our family, we made sure the police were called to the scene. The police arrived and were briefed by the hotel. The Green Bay police were awful and unhelpful either. But they did what they could and left, but they had to come back eventually because this hotel and that employee wouldnt leave us alone.

So the police came back and were neutral and attemped to clear up the problem, but the hotel manager, and the general manager refused to apologize or show any regard to our family. They were more interested in getting out of there than helping the situation.

In the end the hotel general manager told the bride he refused to talk to her about her reception and the incident. This was rude, disrespectful and we were all so surprised that an entire hotel staff would support one employee who invited himself to a party, drank alcohol without the families permission, and refused to leave.

The general manager went so far as to defend his staff, and asked the entire wedding party who was not a guest of the hotel to leave and would not let my little cousin who has diabetes use the washroom. He also seemed amused and smirked through the entire fiasco. As if to say, I dont care, get out.

My family was so disappointed in the hotel. It was awful. My cousins were all crying and at one point another employee attempted to aruge with the bride when she went into the bathroom. Not only did the police stand there, the hotel manager and general manager seemed as though a male entering the ladies bathroom to argue with the bride, was ok.

What type of hotel does this? We will never ever use this hotel chain again and I hope you do not ever stay there either.

That's horrible!

AUTHOR: Mark (FlyingScooter) - (U.S.A.)

This sounds like it'd be a great case for judge Judy. Even the PD got involved, so hopefully there's reports filed.

The fact hotel mngmnt did nothing makes me wonder if the employee was related to them or the owner. It's sad, I remember when HOJO's were great.

motel 6 is worse

AUTHOR: Lee Ving - (U.S.A.)

I was married at the Motel 6, and it was much worse than this. First of all, there was a murder a couple of rooms down from mine, and there was quite a bit of police activity that interfered with our ceremony. We then went to the pool for our reception, and there were several guests floating in the pool, dead of apparent overdoses. In addition the resident hookers were servicing guests in the restrooms.

And then to make matters worse, the Denny's that we had contracted to cater our affair decided not to deliver because of the murder. We were forced to dine on stale orange cheese and crackers and warm Dr Pepper from the vending machines.

It was an unforgettable affair.

"What type of hotel does this?"

AUTHOR: Peter - (U.S.A.)

Howard Johnson, that's what type! They are an extremely low-class hotel, barely above a Super 8 or Motel 6. While it was inappropriate for a hotel employee to "crash" the reception, it is not unbelievable considering the type of venue.

I have to ask, if there was only ONE ill-behaved, uninvited hotel employee, and dozens of guests, why didn't the guests band together and physically remove this guy from your reception room? I mean really, how can one guy overpower the rest of the crowd such that he is able to stay long enough to drink your beer, eat your food, and cause a scene?
