I have had a HSBC Card Services Direct Rewards card for approximately 2 years now. I never had a problem with the company before, and am never late in my payments. If I've forgotten, I have done Rush payments in order to not incur fees.

On January 28th, I scheduled my payment online for Feb. 2nd. (Friday) My due date was the 3rd (Saturday), but as I get paid on Fridays, I made it for this date. Also, at the time I made my payment, the payment schedule calendar showed the week from Saturday-Friday, and you were unable to choose weekends as payment dates. My last statement dated Jan 9th showed a balance of $487.52, with a due date of 2-3-07.

I recently received a letter dated Feb. 2nd that said I was over my limit. (I have not used the card since this statement). They added late fees, BEFORE the due date even, which put the account over the limit, thus another fee. The letter has the amount of $565.52 as balance. (limit is $500). When I went online, I saw that ANOTHER over limit fee had already posted, also, bringing the balance to $598.21. (There is $9.69 in interest, which I agree with). Within six days time, they have added two over limit fees to my account, all in one statement period.

I called customer service, and asked why it shows my payment as submitted on the 3rd, and posted on the 4th. The rep started telling me that there was 10.41 interest, and fees (the fees I was questioning) The 10.41 was already included in the balance of $487.52, so that had no bearing on this at all. She put me on hold to talk to a supervisor, and said they would only remove one fee. When I asked to speak to this supervisor, Peggy said that she did not know who she had just spoken to. Short memory. Instead she gave me the voice mail of a supervisor who was already gone. I had asked to speak to the person who just made that particular decision.

I have emailed the company using the site's message system, and received a reply that stated I should give 7-10 days when mailing my payment. I thanked Tiffany for her standardized reply, but told her that she had not addressed my issues.

I will be filing a dispute of these charges in writing according to their billing rights. If anyone has any suggestions, please help. At this point, it is more than the $117 in charges they have assessed me, weather for human or computer error when they were updating their calendar (which now goes Sunday through Satuday, but I have a print screen of what it did look like)It is now a matter of principal. I will not pay for them not processing my scheduled payment in a timely manner.
