Hyrecar is a scam!  Beware!!! And do not post your car for rent on their platform.  If your car is damaged, Hyrecar and its insurance company (Blackboard Specialty Insurance / York Risk Services Group) will not compensate you for the damages.  I had a driver rent and crash my car, basically destroyed it.  There's physical damage and the engine is gone.  The car was abandoned on the scene and I had to call the police to track it down.  The driver also incurred a number of tickets.  It has been 3 months and Hyrecar and its insurance company have been giving me the run around and basically refuse to accept responsibility.  They finally made me an insulting offer of less than 3k, betting that I would accept it out of desperation.

I turned down the offer.  I'm in the process of filing a civil claim that will allow me to sue for up to triple damages and legal fees.  I'm also filing complaints with the attorney general's office, the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, and the Division of Insurance.  If you have been screwed by Hyrecar or if they are currently trying to screw you, I recommend that you also file a claim and fight for what they owe you.  Additionally, file the necessary complaints so that they are held responsible.  We can't allow a company to come into the marketplace and take advantage of consumers.  Hyrecar does not care about the car owners and will screw you over as soon as there's some kind of accident, claim, or your car is not returned by the driver.
