I have been trying to get a superviosr or manager from this company for 2 months now. Every time I call the idot customer service reps won't let me talk to one. They are extremely rude. They laugh & tell me to get over it. I don't even have an account in collections & need to talk with them about a past account from over a year ago. I tried to explain the situation & the reps say, "You're not in the system what do you want me to do."
I am trying to just get a statement to say I paid them. These guys are fake, they stole my money, now they act like I don't exist.
BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't send any momey to them! Change your phone#!

The other side of the coin

AUTHOR: Amanda Rarten - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 23, 2008

I've worked for several colection agenciies including this one
and yes sometimes their were really rude people on the floor. These are usually the people who do not do very well or make much money and they typically end up getting fired rather quickly due to complaint calls.
The collection agency itself does not want debtors harassed. They just want the bill paid. Its really far past due by the time it comes to collections. And like it or not its has to be paid. I have always been a very respectful collector and have no need to belittle or harass anyone for money. I know collectors who do this eventually get caught and fired. I treat people with respect on the phone and try to come to an agreement. I do however as any commission based sales person would try to get as much money as possible.
Some people don't realize options to settle, or bring current to stop late fees. And different options out there. I like to believe the majority of people there want to pay their bills. Alot of people dont realize some of the opeions and sources that are avaiable and
you always save the most money by making the largest payment possible this is do to fees and etc.
Not all collectors are the same though. I follow a ceratin order in asking for payment where the person next to me may like setting up monthly arrangements. They would use a different negotiatioin order then I would. That is why you get differing amounts sometimes, I see how it is a bit annoying but eventually we all go down to the same minimum payment. Remember, unless you choose to formally dispute it you do owe the debt and are obligated to pay it. And the agency nor the creditor has to accept a minimum payment once you are that far behind. It really benifits no one to take a $50.00 payment. Not the creditor not the agency and becuase your payemnt got eaten up by fees and intrest not you either. We will take and set up arrangments though becuase the majoroity of us want to work with you and help you. The past due amount is the best thing to try to pay if not the balance becuase it wll get you current and stop those late fees.

As far as settlements go not all not all creditors let the agency use settlements. In some cases the creditor still "owns" the debt and is using the agency to collect on it. In these cases the agency may not be able to reduce it. And of they cant they cant. Oh well. They shouldn't have to give you a deal because you fell behind how is this fair to the consumers you diligently pay their bills very month? Don't get me wrong settlements are a great option if they are available and you cant pay it in full. But demanding them in my eyes is wrong.

Anyways the point I am trying to make here is not a collectors are bad. If you deal with someone who broke laws call back during business hours and ask for a supervisor. You will probably help them get rid of that person much faster. Unfortunaly collection agencies are big and some people slide by and get in and seem to be great for the job until they get on a call when their boss isn't around to hear it. Calls get monitored and things like that but so many calls get monitored you have to give the agency a reason to listen to those calls and get rid of that "bad collector", much like a rude rep at a store. Ect..

Another thing to remember to is many and I mean many debtors get on the phone and immediately cuss me out every day. I understand how frusterated they are and taking it out on me I guess makes it easier somehow.
The things I hear on the phone would shock some of you. One man once told me that he hopes if I ever have children that they die of cancer. He said this to me when I said nothing other then my name the creditor I represented, and asked how he was doing today? (this is how I open all of my calls btw like I said most of us are really nice people) .
Just sharing this to let you all see both sides of the coin.

Dear Confused

AUTHOR: Mr Bob - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 18, 2008

You are very confused in what you are saying, the company that you are referring to has been around longer than you have. I think its sad that you took the time to write what you did. If you just call up and say see why are you calling me your crazy.. Just in the office I work in there are 350 some people and they are all on different teams. If you call the main number like you are your not going to figure anything out. Give me the reference # and I will find out why we are calling you. I think its sad that you are telling people to not pay them and to change your telephone # but sad to say that the way the american people are today they think that they can charge things and then not pay for them.. So before you go making accusations try a little harder next time to figure this out.

Thanks,

Mr Bob

#3 Consumer Comment

it's true

AUTHOR: Lj - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 27, 2007

with ic system they dont keep those records in their system. i have friends who work for that company and they by LAW arent able to speak with you unless they still have valid info in their system... with no info at all, that is not valid. You would need to contact the company that sent you to ic system and get all the things you want from them, it's not ic system's responsibility.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

While it is true that companies do purge their records....

AUTHOR: Railyn - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 19, 2005

it usually means that they are no longer in the "active" debt collection system. There is almost always a "purge file" that has limited records.

I worked in collections in various capacities for 7 years. I used Pyramid Collection Systems, and then the company that bought Pyramid out, and there was a specific "purge file" that had limited information going back years.

We also had paper records in our basement that we kept for 7 years. I find it hard to believe that someone within that company cannot find a payment record for you.

Many a time I typed something up on letterhead and signed my name to it that someone satisfied a debt with the company.

I assume that this is still showing unpaid, or another source is trying to collect, or that the original company that you owed money to is withholding services because of the unsatisfied debt? You should also contact the original company you owed the money to as they should have record of payment, but if you paid IC Systems, there is no reason they can't provide you with something. The company I worked for provided receipts if you sent a SASE.

As for the former employee, I have had dealings with IC Systems through no fault of my own - a doctor my husband saw committed insurance fraud and I ended up there. They were very unprofessional. They reported the debt immediately to the credit bureau, even though I called upon receipt of the first letter and set up a payment plan. I always sent more than I was set up to pay, and then, they lost my payment made online. They continued to call, even though THEY lost the payment. I still owe $30 on it because they have never found the payment. I will be filing a complaint against them regarding this.

As as for your other comment, EVERYONE deserves to be treated with decency. I worked for a decent agency, who knew how to treat people. And you wonder why people hate collection agencies and their agents. I'm glad you've never been dogged by one, but I hope you'll feel the same way the first time one gives you a hassle.

Your Kidding... all Collection agencies purge their computers of paid debtors within a year

AUTHOR: Brad - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 07, 2005

First and foremost. Collectors are not, I repeat NOT customer service reps. Second. How did you pay them. You sure didn't mail cash. So was it a check? Or western union? Maybe it was moneygram? Bank wire even? Come on, if you made a payment and you lost your proof why do you expect a 3rd party company to come up with that info for you. Call the people that you owed the money too in the first place. They will have all of that info for you.

Almost all Collection agencies purge their computers of paid debtors within a year. Sometimes within months the info is gone.
So quit your crying and grow up. You need to have the responsibility here. You are not entitled to be treated nicely.
